Description
Struck by Lightning: The Carson Phillips Journal follows the story of outcast high-school senior Carson Phillips who blackmails the most popular students in his school into contributing to his literary journal to bolster his college application; his goal in life is to get into Northwestern and eventually become the editor of The New Yorker.
At once laugh-out-loud funny, deliciously dark, and remarkably smart, Struck by Lightning unearths the dirt that lies just below the surface of high school.
The film Stuck by Lightning is set to be released by Tribeca Film later this year and features Colfer's own original screenplay. Colfer also stars in the film alongside Allison Janney, Christina Hendricks, Dermot Mulroney, Sarah Hyland, and Polly Bergen.

I hated the ending!
I listened with great enjoyment and interest to this tape. While listening I looked up the author's other books, I thought about recommending it to some kids I know and compared it to "The Perks of Being a Wall Flower",until the end. I'm not enough of a literary critic to know if the ending was powerful or not, but the first thing that came to mind was the movie ending of one of my favorite plays "The Bad Seed". If you read the book or see the play you get one ending, if you watch the movie you get another. I feel like we got the movie ending here and it almost ruined the book for me.

Just "Pretty Good" and That's Okay
I remember being excited when this book/movie came out and then the physical book sat on my shelf half-finished for years. The audio book was in my audible library for months before I could finish listening to it. Colfer isn't a bad narrator, in fact, I genuinely enjoyed hearing his voice in relation to the main character. This story was just flat. There isn't a lot of character development, and by the end of the book I didn't care enough about the main character to be affected by his death. I wouldn't read this again.

Brought Me To Tears
I absolutely LOVED listening to this story. The ending was one I did not expect. It brought me to tears. Chris Colfer yet again succeeded at getting me to love a character and bring them close to my heart. I loved this. I love this. I will always love this.

Truly Wonderful, Poignant and Hillarious
This book is a must read/listen for any one in need of a reminder on how amazing and heartbreaking life can be all at once. The importance of our temporary existence in this world is to remind ourselves everyday to be in the moment. Enjoy the good and the bad all mixed in together.

A funny, and meaningful story. With unexpected events.
I laughed so hard at the jokes, and sat there listening to the story go on with anticipation. I don’t normally read/listen to books for then once, sense I already know the story, but this definitely is a book I will listen to multiple times. I’ve been a fan of Chris Colfer’s other books such as his “The Land Of Stories” series, so I was already well aquatinted with his writing style, but Chris surprises me with every book he writes. This book had such a great feeling to it, with a surprising ending. I haven’t seen the movie version of this, and I’m glad I haven’t, and that I listened to the book first. Although throughout the whole story it gives off a sarcastic, and humorous vibe, there were some parts where I unexpectedly got teary eyed. I didn’t expect how much I would have loved the character Carson Phillips, but I ended up loving the character development and personality. If you are a fan of Chris Colfer, like writing, a smart ass (like me), or simply are just very sarcastic you will love this book. This book was inspirational, even when it didn’t sound like it was. I rate this 5/5 because of all the times I had to pause it and laugh out loud. Because of all the times where I took one line to heart. And because of the times where I couldn’t help but see me in Carson’s shoes. Enjoy the book, you won’t regret listening to this story.
