Description

The Nowhere Man is a figure shrouded in secrecy - a near legendary figure who helps the truly desperate, those with nowhere else to turn who are lucky enough to be able to reach out to him. When darkness closes in, the Nowhere Man is your last, best hope.

Before he was the Nowhere Man, Evan Smoak was a highly trained government operative known to a few as Orphan X. But he now lives by hiding in plain sight, keeping his head down and his eyes clear. So when a local summer intern for a tabloid news site finds herself trailing an aggressive reporter into a crime zone, things go terribly awry. The only person who can help her is a man with the background and the skills of the Nowhere Man.

From New York Times bestselling author Gregg Hurwitz comes an electrifying, original story in his “nerve-shredding” internationally #1 bestselling Orphan X series.

Not worth $2.

Don't waste your money. Not sure why this would be recorded other than a cash grab.

A bit disappointing

I love Gregg Hurwitz’s work but this was too much money for too little. He should have incorporated the idea into a real book

Nowhere man is everywhere again!

Nowhere man is everywhere again!

So many things come together in this book and what’s amazing about that is that it’s 30 minutes. This was not a bite your nails fight scene book but it was way more intense. So many intertwined the dynamics between all of the characters from the shifting levels of power for each to the intense control Evan Smoak as with everything he does. The power of the gender, the hate groups, the incompetent but egocentric idiot male, and of course the poor victim, the hot female. A touch stereotypical for all of those categories for me, but nonetheless, great her wits, you’re a genius you’re a great writer your ability to put that intense action scene on such a simple device such as a selfie camera screen looking up becoming the eyes for this young lady. What amazing visualization I had while reading that. It was done really perfectly. Scott Brick, your voice is just Perfect for these novels. Perfect for pretty much everything I read of yours or listen to if years. You guys are an amazing team and I really appreciate everything that you do. Greg, do me a favor, put about six or eight of the short stories into one book please. I don’t mind using my audible credits for 30 minutes story, but you leave me wanting more every single time and that’s annoying. Now I have to wait till January to listen to this fourth book. Hurry up man! I can help you come up with some topics if you like. But well done unless I’m a big fan five stars all the way across the board. Thank you very much I really appreciate your talent and your choice of narrators in Scott Brick and a magnificent character such as Evan Smoak.

Shockingly SHORT !

Love Nowhere Man, love Scott Brick; I am, however, now going to ponder why I didn't believe the reviews and spent my money anyway.

Nowhere Man short

A short story taking place in the nowhere man series. Takes place at the church from the earlier book. Good quick little tale. Not worth 10 bucks but got it on sale.

I love all of the Orphan X books

I love all if the Orphan X books, I just wish this were a full book and not a 30 minute short story. Good little story line. Maybe this character will be in a future book

Wonderful Smoak-filled Snack

My favorite mystery/thriller series. Never tire of Evan Smoak or his journey. Have listened to each book at least twice. Not as big a Scott Brick fan as others. No offense to Mr. Brick, but he has always been a "chew the scenery" type of reader to me. He's lessoned his over-emoating with the X series. I've actually stopped listening to books when he's narrated, because his tendency to drone and verbally elongate phrases for emphasis was so annoying, but it's not as prevalent in the X series. I wish Hurwitz would try other experienced readers sometimes.

Orphan X - Ghost written by an amateur???

This short story seems a bit forced. It’s as if Greg Hurwitz was pressured to push out a story, with a 2-hour limit for completion.

Most short side stories, related to multi-volume series’, that I have read; serve to provide additional insight to a character, or give an early introduction to a character, with an important roll in the next book. In this case, two new characters are thrown together in a somewhat forced scenario (from a story aspect). The only relationship to Orphan-X, is re-utilization of a location from the previous book; with a last minute appearance by “The Nowhere Man.” His appearance, on-scene; after his “mission “ has been completed, seems completely out of character.

While this is not an expensive title; there is no compelling reason to purchase, since it doesn’t add anything to the Orphan X story line.

This is the first time I haven’t enjoyed something written by Hurwitz. It actually feels like a creative writing student was asked to write a story, based upon a favorite book or series. Save yourself a half hour of wasted time and listen to something else.

Nice and quick

This honestly wasn't what I thought it was gonna be when I first bought this book (without reading the summary, of course), but it turned out to be pretty goddamn perfect. I never thought I'd see Evan take a case without it coming as a request for help, but he swooped in and saved the day as efficiently and calmly as anything I've ever seen. I just adore this character for his constant vigilance to do right by those who cannot help themselves.

Evan is outstanding

I love the Orphan X series, its probably in my top 5 of series that I absolutely go bonkers over. This one is short, but so much fun.
