Description

Eleven-year-old Tippy Chan lives in a small town in a quiet part of the world - where her uncle Pike escaped from the first chance he got as a teenager.

unexpected

Not quite what I was expecting (ok, not at all) but I actually really liked it. There was a lot of innuendo and genital jokes, which is not my thing, but it was also a very sensitive look at grief and loss, and a solid mystery, too. Usually, amateur sleuth stories have me struggling to suspend my disbelief, but somehow, this one felt very believable. The girl sleuth was smart and observant, but not ridiculously so. And your heart really went out for her.
The villain was pretty obvious from the start, but the way they figure it out is so satisfying.
It was a good book. The ending was very realistic and both a little sad and hopeful.
I listened to this one, and the narrator's voice took a lot of getting used to
