Description
A fresh, personal, and entertaining exploration of a topic that concerns all of us: how to be more productive at work and in every facet of our lives.
Chris Bailey turned down lucrative job offers to pursue a lifelong dream—to spend a year performing a deep dive experiment into the pursuit of productivity, a subject he had been enamored with since he was a teenager. After obtaining his business degree, he created a blog to chronicle a year-long series of productivity experiments he conducted on himself, where he also continued his research and interviews with some of the world’s foremost experts, from Charles Duhigg to David Allen. Among the experiments that he tackled: Bailey went several weeks with getting by on little to no sleep; he cut out caffeine and sugar; he lived in total isolation for 10 days; he used his smartphone for just an hour a day for three months; he gained ten pounds of muscle mass; he stretched his work week to 90 hours; a late riser, he got up at 5:30 every morning for three months—all the while monitoring the impact of his experiments on the quality and quantity of his work.
The Productivity Project—and the lessons Chris learned—are the result of that year-long journey. Among the counterintuitive insights Chris Bailey will teach you:
· slowing down to work more deliberately;
· shrinking or eliminating the unimportant;
· the rule of three;
· striving for imperfection;
· scheduling less time for important tasks;
· the 20 second rule to distract yourself from the inevitable distractions;
· and the concept of productive procrastination.
In an eye-opening and thoroughly engaging listen, Bailey offers a treasure trove of insights and over 25 best practices that will help you accomplish more.

A well written to do list!
I loved it! Chris Bailey read his book with a good pace and had funny anecdotes/side comments. This book was made for audio and I will listen again to the bookmarks I made when he assigned the activities of implementation (because I was too impatient and wanted to keep listening to his engaging findings) The last chapter is the best with Chris' aha moment!

Great book lots of useful info
Great book. My only criticisms are the narrator gasps for air loudly at the end of most sentences and it’s rather distracting. I personally also prefer less personal stories and more facts that I the reader can benefit from. Over all great book though.

Great book but...
All I could think while listening to this book is “This dink clearly doesn’t have kids”.
Great ideas, well researched but It’s help me realize how unproductive having children is. They are worth it though.

Decent
Some of the suggestions are unrealistic for most people (get an assistant, only respond to high-reward emails) but some were actually useful. I've found myself actually putting some strategies into practice and I've seen some positive results. Be warned the author has a very unusual cadence, partially because he takes large audible inhalations mid sentence. Its a tinch annoying. Overall I would recommend this.

Overall great book to skyrocket your productivity.
It’s a great book. It was fun to listen to it since it was very informative, spiked with referrals to different studies. Although he keeps mentioning some things that I didn’t agree with mostly because they are not true, like saying “coffee gives you energy” - which it doesn’t. It’s a stimulant. You don’t get energy from it, it has no nutrition; then he keeps talking about eating carbohydrates and talking about sugar crashes; but no mentioning of the keto diet that basically eliminates these crashes. Overall it’s a great book and it’s definitely worth going through it, but I’m sure the second edition (if there will be one) will have more (and maybe even better) information on how to achieve the highest level of productivity. Thanks, Chris.

Highly Recommended
Such a wonderful book!
I really loved the book. The way he starts with each productivity barrier, then he gives personal examples, and at the end gives you some recommended techniques! I gifted this book to those dear to me. The performance was also pretty good.

Really good read
Probably the best productivity book I’ve ever read. The rest almost seem disingenuous after listening to how passionate Chris is about productivity. Would definitely recommend.
