À propos de cet audio

When Shetland detective Jimmy Perez finds a body in a hut used by fishermen, it seems to be a straightforward case of suicide. He recognises the victim - a stranger with amnesia who had disrupted a local party the night before his death. Yet this is no desperate act of anguish but the work of a cold and calculating killer.

As Perez investigates, he finds himself mired in the hidden secrets of the small Biddista community. Then another body is found. Perez knows he must break the cycle before another death occurs. But this is a crazy time of year, when night blurs into day and nothing is quite as it seems....

I am enjoying this series! I love following the same characters from book to book.

Good book!

Story was slow to start and too much talk about Fran and Jimmy. But once it got going it was hard to stop listening.

Characters and settings seemed like you were there!

This was a bleak story set in a bleak landscape with suitably bleak detectives. Yet the story held my attention.

worth reading, kept me wondering.

Jimmy Perez investigates two recent murders and another from the long past, making this story one of a triple homicide and the journey to solving all three deaths. The twists and turns made me feel suspect of everyone. The story weaves through characters we met in Book One along with the unique beauty of the Island. I enjoy how Ann Cleeves creates the people of the Shetland with depth steeped in island traditions that gives the reader/listener a voyeuristic glimpse of their lives. Cleeves’ descriptions paint visualizations of the wind swept cliffs, rushing waves, and the long lasting summer sun and its effects of the local & the outsiders.
The narrator was perfect and changed accents incredibly well. I was captured by the rhythm of his voice and soon learned who was who by hearing the differences in his speech. Excellent reader!
I highly recommend this series although you could read this book out of order but you might miss the flow of some characters from Book One. I’m excited to start Book Three!

Another great story by Ann Cleeves . The Shetland setting of these stories with very good characters make them a must read/listen. Great narration.

Picked this up months and months ago during an Audible sale, along with two others in the series. I didn’t think I'd read anything by the author before, but they sounded ok and I thought they'd be good to listen to at work. And then I started book one and realized that, oooh, it's Shetland. I've watched the TV show based on the books. I set it aside, because I remembered the plot.
This one, I didn’t remember. It was... ok. Like the TV series it inspired, it's very slow. Very. The story was interesting, but the solution sort of felt like it came out of nowhere. It made sense, but it was still abrupt and kind of anticlimactic. Also, the characters were almost uniformly unlikable.
Overall, it was alright for passing the time at work.

ok
