  • Black Women Aren't Supposed to Do These Extreme Self-Care Acts
    Sep 22 2025

I want to preface this episode with a couple of things:

#1 – Extreme self-care isn’t about shock value. It’s about survival, liberation, and choosing yourself when everything around you says don’t.

#2 – The choices I’m sharing in this episode may feel uncomfortable, even unthinkable, because Black women are socialized to endure instead of disrupt. But these choices are valid. They are powerful. And they are yours to claim.

In this episode of the Brown Girl Self-Care Podcast, I’m talking about five extreme self-care moves that many of us are told we can’t choose:

    • Cutting off a parent
    • Declining the caregiver role
    • Choosing not to have children
    • Leaving the traditional church
    • Investing in yourself first

To live well we sometimes have to be extreme or disrupt the status quo. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Leave a comment on Spotify. Share this episode and tag me on social. Email me at connect@browngirlselfcare.com

  • 5 Easy Beauty Practices To Remind You Of Your Worth And Who You Are
    Sep 15 2025

I want to preface this episode with a couple of things:

#1 - You don't owe the world "your pretty"

#2 - The self-care in this episode is less about performance and more about affirming your worth, reminding yourself of who you are and feeling great about yourself, FOR YOU

In this episode of the Brown Girl Self-Care Podcast, I'm giving you five simple beauty practices that serve as daily reminders of self-worth and identity. These are not about chasing trends or fitting into outside standards. It's about choosing rituals that ground you, feel authentic, and help you move through life's transitions with confidence and more self-love.

  • My Sleep Has Been Wrecked. Here’s How I’m Starting Over
    Sep 8 2025

My sleep has been wrecked since I moved. Last year I had the perfect setup: a bed that supported me, a routine that worked, and deep, consistent rest. Now? I’m on a futon, waking up at 4 a.m. to take my daughter to work, and dragging through the day.

    n this episode I'm sharing:

    • Why fall naturally shifts your body’s sleep rhythm (and how to work with it)
    • The basics I’m returning to: earlier bedtimes, wind-down rituals, and morning light
    • Tangible adjustments that help: showers or baths at night, better pillows, and bedding that supports you
    • The tools I’m using to stay accountable
    • Why great sleep is not a luxury for Black women, but a necessity

If your sleep has been off, you’ll leave this episode with practical ways to reset and reclaim real rest this season.

  • 5 for 50: The Truths I’m Carrying Into This New Decade
    Aug 25 2025

This week I turn 50. Instead of balloons or cake, I’m marking this milestone by sharing five truths that feel carved into me now. Call it my 5 for 50. These are the lessons I’m carrying into this next decade—about boundaries, embodiment, reciprocity, friendship, and trusting the timing of my life.

If you’re in your 40s, 50s, 60s, I hope you hear yourself in these truths. And if you’re younger, I hope you take them as reminders to claim your life sooner rather than later.

    In this episode I share:

    • Why I will no longer overexplain myself
    • How my body, not the clock, sets the pace for my life
    • The line I’ve drawn around reciprocity in relationships and work
    • The honest truth about not knowing how to be a good friend until later in life
    • Why I am no longer comparing my timeline to anyone else’s

  • Daily Boundaries That Save Your Sanity
    Aug 18 2025

Boundaries don’t always look like cutting people off or quitting jobs. The ones that actually keep you from burning out are the daily boundaries — the small choices that say: my time, my body, and my energy belong to me.

In this episode, I’m breaking down five daily boundaries that protect your sanity:

    • Not answering texts right away
    • Saying “I can’t talk right now”
    • Blocking off the first 30 minutes of your morning
    • Leaving when you’re ready
    • Refusing to explain your “no”

These may look simple, but they’re radical. Because every time a Black woman says no to urgency, over-functioning, or people-pleasing, she’s also saying no to the systems that demand her exhaustion.

Listen in if you’re ready to stop being “on call” for the world and start saving your energy for yourself.

  • ETCF - Flexin' Your $$ One Month Then Broke The Next While Business Building
    Aug 15 2025

We are out here building businesses, doing side gigs, dreaming about walking in our purpose, right? Yes! As we do this, there may be a pull for you to get out there and showboat just how well you are doing by flaunting your income while encouraging others to quit their job and "get like you." This episode is a reminder that this isn't the way to grow. There will be ups and downs in your entrepreneurial journey. Don't let the "highs" fool you into thinking you need to flaunt because things can change very quickly.

  • Trust, Transformation and No Longer Constantly Bracing For The Worst Case Scenario
    Aug 11 2025

I’m sharing what it looked like to move from bracing for the worst to making space for the best. This shift didn’t happen overnight, but it’s changed how I move through life, how I feel in my body, and how I trust myself.

    We talk about:

    • The moment I realized my trust was starting to change
    • How my nervous system used to feel vs. how it feels now
    • Why trust takes time to rebuild

Also, as mentioned: BEING 1:1 Coaching is open. This is where we sit together and put out the fires—whether it’s burnout from your job, the weight of family dynamics, being the go-to for everyone in your circle, community or church obligations, caregiving without support, or constantly feeling like you have to be the strong one—so you can reset and move forward lighter. You’ll leave with clarity and steps you can actually use right now. If you want to go deeper, we can work through the full BEING framework together. Book your session here.

  • The Superwoman Contract We Never Agreed To
    Aug 4 2025

So many of us are walking around with an invisible contract we never agreed to—but we’re still out here living by it. It's the Superwoman Contract. In this episode, I’m naming what it is, where it comes from, how it keeps us stuck, and what it costs us to keep performing strength.

    We talk about:

    • What the Superwoman Contract actually is
    • Why we feel obligated to carry so much
    • How this “strength” is expensive
    • What it could look like to void the contract and choose something else

    Mentioned in this episode:

➡️ BEING 1:1 Coaching is open. This is support for Black women who are navigating reinvention, self-trust, and soft power after survival. If you’ve been carrying it all, this is your space to finally set it down. Book your session today.
