About Kat Higgins
Kat Higgins, originally from Delta (Greater Vancouver), British Columbia, has transformed from a Canadian family performer to an acclaimed American country hitmaker.
Early Roots in Music & Family
Raised as the middle of seven siblings, Kat started singing traditional Irish songs like “Fields of Athenry” and “Danny Boy” with her family as early as age 4.

As a child, the siblings performed for friends and at local events, evolving into a formal trio: The Higgins (Kat, her brothers John, and sister Eileen). Their harmonies and storytelling style earned them Top 15 singles on Canadian country radio and CCMA Group of the Year nominations in 2008 and 2009.

Nashville Bound & Songwriting Career
Kat began making songwriting trips to Nashville around 2012, ultimately relocating there permanently to pursue songwriting full-time.

She signed her first publishing deal with Patrick Joseph Music, facilitated by industry veteran Pat Higdon, later aligning with BMG. She renewed this publishing partnership in 2024.

Breakthrough Hits & Awards
Her first major U.S. hit was “Knowing You” (Kenny Chesney, 2021), which reached No. 1 and earned an ACM Song of the Year nomination.

She followed this success in 2024 with “The Painter” by Cody Johnson—another No. 1 hit. This song garnered nominations for CMA and ACM Song of the Year, and won NSAI Song of the Year plus the AIMP Song of the Year. It also achieved Platinum certification in both the U.S. and Canada and amassed massive streaming numbers.
