Filmed over three years, JACINTA begins at the Maine Correctional Center where Jacinta, 26, and her mother, Rosemary, 46, are incarcerated together, both recovering from drug addiction. As a child, Jacinta began entangled in her mother's world of drugs and crime and has followed her in and out of the carceral system since she was a teenager.

In recent years, men have begun to push back against traditional gender stereotypes. This movement is known as "evolved manhood." An Evolved Man is a man who has conquered his own emotional, spiritual, and personal growth and takes responsibility for his life. A man who can communicate his emotions is true to his word, takes action, and lives with integrity. An evolved man longs to see his woman radiant and genuinely happy.
