À propos de cet audio

In this podcast, we will be talking about dealing with driving test nerves. Not knowing the test, and not looking the part can cause a lot of problems in the driver's mind. You could fail. Not knowing the driving test or not trying can lead to failures.

We have seen nerves become a problem on our driving lessons in West Wickham, just prior to a learner taking their test. It might seem odd to read advice on how to keep calm and manage your nerves in a driving test. However, there are several lessons in this article that help you deal with your nerves in the worst possible way. The first step is to look at how to be calm, regardless of what it is that is happening.

Coping with challenges on your driving lessons and test

Your physical state is key to your ability to cope with the challenges in a driving test. On top of feeling calm, you need to be alert and have focus. You should be aware of the directions and instructions were given to you.

The second tip is to make sure that you understand the directions as they are given to you. Try to focus on what you are trying to do, rather than trying to figure out what they want you to do. Focus on what you are being told and do what they tell you. Then, move forward.

Pay attention to your surroundings

One of the most important of all how to keep calm tips is to pay attention to your surroundings. Whilst the driving test is going on, pay attention to the noises around you. Listen carefully to the engine and then try to listen to what is being said. You need to know what the other drivers are saying because you could be misunderstood.

Keep breathing

As you read about how to keep calm, you need to pay attention to your hands, fingers and arms. You should be keeping yourself steady and well-focused on what you are doing. Doing so will help to keep you from making a mistake.

If you communicate well, it will help to minimise mistakes, whether you are following written advice or making a mistake through poor communication. You need to concentrate on your partner and be able to explain what you are trying to do and why. To achieve this, you should be well prepared ahead of time.

There are many different ways to deal with driving test nerves. From the simple steps mentioned above, to simply having control of your own thoughts and to take action on the instructions you receive.
