Dementia and Alzheimer's
The most important differences between the two relate to the onset and progression of the disease: Alzheimer's dementia begins gradually, and the symptoms increase slowly. Vascular dementia, on the other hand, usually begins suddenly; the symptoms often increase rapidly, but sometimes also gradually and slowly, as with Alzheimer's.

Alzheimer's causes memories to fade and makes everyday life uncertain – for those affected and their families.
Even when words and memories fade, the heart remains connected, because love knows no memory loss.
True closeness does not arise in the mind, but in the heart – and it lives on even in silence.

What does Alzheimer's mean for those affected?
Alzheimer's is more than a diagnosis. It changes everyday life and often also the feeling of who you are.

At first, small things disappear from memory: a name, a date, the place where your glasses are.

Later, familiar faces, places, and actions can become blurred.

This can trigger fear, frustration, and withdrawal.
