À propos de cet audio
In this episode, I’m talking about what it means to choose yourself. For years, I thought putting my needs first made me selfish or difficult. I was a people pleaser, constantly saying yes to things I didn’t want to do, all because I tied my self-worth to how others saw me. I share how that started in childhood. Growing up in a strict household where obedience was expected, and feelings were brushed off. I open up about how that lack of emotional safety shaped my relationships and led me to overextend myself just to feel accepted.
But I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learned that setting boundaries isn’t rude. It’s self-respect. That saying no doesn’t mean you don’t care. It means you’re honouring your own energy. And this is what radical self-care looks like.
I talk about friendships, parenting, work, and the moments when I finally realised I had to stop abandoning myself to make others comfortable.
If you’ve ever felt guilty for resting, for declining plans, or for walking away from something that no longer feels aligned, this one’s for you.
ABOUT THE HOST, MYKAYLA BEST:
I’m Mykayla Best — a mom, entrepreneur, and life and business coach. After becoming a mom at 19, pushing through college, and working jobs that didn’t align with who I was, I finally stopped ignoring the voice inside me. Now, I guide women through the same kind of radical self-discovery that changed my life.
Through House of Authority, I share with you the lessons, tools, and unfiltered truths I’ve picked up along the way — because you deserve to own your story and stop playing small.
