    The case of Constance Marten and Mark Gordon involves a national manhunt for the couple and their newborn baby, Victoria, after their car was found burnt out on a motorway in January 2023. After evading authorities for more than seven weeks, they were arrested in Brighton, but their baby was missing, leading to a huge search operation covering a vast area of some 90 square miles. Tragically, the remains of baby Victoria were discovered in a wooded area close to their arrest site, and the couple was subsequently held on suspicion of child neglect and manslaughter by gross negligence. Police expressed devastation at the outcome, which they had hoped would not happen, and conveyed that the conclusion of this search would be heartbreaking for the local community and the wider public.
