Pennie who has helped to set the foundation for this current iteration of the climate justice movement is a co-founder of Idle No More SF Bay, @Movement.Rights and a signatory of the Indigenous Women of the Americas Defending Mother Earth Treaty. Pennie has worked for over 35 years to ensure that the sacred system of life continues in a manner that is safe, sustainable and healthy. Pennie is also a contributing author to Required Reading, where she penned an important essay titled “Magical Realism Will Not Save Us: Dispelling the Myth of Nature Based Solutions, Carbon Trading and Climate Capitalism”.
