À propos de cet audio
Shahmaran: Serpent Goddess of Ancient Turkey, who lived underground with her serpents. Taking a mortal man as her lover, she is in turn betrayed by him, a recurrent theme in Serpent Women Mythology.
Join me as we discover who she was, along with tantalizing clues that she might have been a real priestess, serving in Karahan Tepe, which has serpent statues and motifs all throughout it. We will also look at other examples in cultures as far afield as Japan, where the serpent people (also known as mermaids) were hunted and eaten, with the hopes their flesh would give the eater longevity and good health.
