  • What is LGS Puan Hesaplama and how to Calculate Your LGS Score
    Jul 29 2025

Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of Study Smart Turkey — the podcast where we make exam preparation easier, smarter, and less stressful.

Today’s episode is all about one of the most searched topics by students and parents: LGS puan hesaplama — in English, that’s how to calculate your score for the LGS exam. Whether you're taking LGS 2025, helping your child prepare, or just trying to understand how the system works, this episode will give you clear answers.

We’ll go step by step through how your LGS score is calculated, what subjects matter most, how net scores work, and how to use an LGS calculator to predict your results.

    Let’s get started.

First things first — what is LGS?

LGS stands for “Liselere Geçiş Sınavı,” Turkey’s national high school entrance exam. Every year, thousands of 8th-grade students take this test to get placed in top high schools, including Fen Liseleri (Science High Schools) and Anadolu Liseleri (Anatolian High Schools).

The LGS exam is made up of 90 multiple-choice questions, divided into two main sections:

    • Verbal section: Turkish, Revolution History, Religion, and English

    • Numerical section: Mathematics and Science

The exam is usually held in early June. For LGS 2025, expect the date to be announced in spring.

So why do we care so much about LGS puan hesaplama?

Because understanding the scoring system helps you prepare better. It tells you:

    • Which subjects matter more

    • How many correct answers (or “net”) you need

    • What your estimated score will be before results are announced

    • Whether you’re on track for your dream school

Using tools like an LGS calculator allows you to plan smarter. You’re not just studying harder — you’re studying with a purpose.

Let’s take a quick look at the subject breakdown in the LGS exam:

    • Turkish – 20 questions

    • Mathematics – 20 questions

    • Science – 20 questions

    • Revolution History (T.C. İnkılap Tarihi) – 10 questions

    • Religion and Ethics – 10 questions

    • English – 10 questions

That makes a total of 90 questions. But here’s the key: not all subjects are equal in terms of scoring. Each one has a different coefficient, or weight.

In LGS puan hesaplama 2025, subjects are weighted like this:

    • Turkish: coefficient = 4

    • Math: coefficient = 4

    • Science: coefficient = 4

    • Revolution History: coefficient = 1

    • Religion and Ethics: coefficient = 1

    • English: coefficient = 1

That means if you improve your net in Turkish, Math, or Science, it will have a much bigger impact on your final score than the other subjects.

So while it’s important to do well in every section, you should focus extra hard on those three key subjects.

Next, let’s talk about net scores — because this is the first step in calculating your total score.

    The rule is simple:
Every 3 wrong answers cancel out 1 correct answer.

    So if you get:

    • 18 correct and 3 wrong in Turkish, your net score is:
      18 - (3 ÷ 3) = 17 net

This formula is applied to every subject. Once you calculate the net for each one, those numbers are used in the final LGS score formula.

Doing the math manually is possible, but it’s much easier to use an LGS calculator — an online tool where you enter your net scores for each subject and get your estimated LGS score instantly.

Most LGS puan hesaplama tools will show:

    • Total score out of 500

    • Estimated percentile (yüzdelik dilim)

    • School recommendations (based on past year cutoffs)

Just search “LGS puan hesaplama 2025” or “LGS calculator” on Google, and you’ll find several free tools available.

These calculators are not official but are based on real scoring systems and are usually very accurate.

Let’s look at a quick example of how this works.

A student gets the following net scores:

    • Turkish: 17 net

    • Math: 14 net

    • Science: 18 net

    • History: 8 net

    • Religion: 9 net

    • English: 10 net
