À propos de cet audio

“When the silence becomes too loud”

The desire to die can also be understandable—for example, when life becomes a burden.
But as long as we still feel something inside us—curiosity, joy, connection—it is worth staying here.

However, we can live consciously today—and with every decision we make, we can get a little closer to ourselves.
Almost every second suicide in Germany affects people, or seniors, aged 65 and over.

Seniors. People with history. With depth. With lived life.

And yet they slip quietly through the social grid.
They don't go with a bang—
but with a sigh that no one hears anymore.

    Why?

Because pain is not only physical.
Because the death of a loved one does not “get easier” over time.
Because loneliness does not scream loudly, but quietly corrodes.
Because many cases of depression in old age go unrecognized.

    Chronic illnesses.
    Sleepless nights.
    Dwindling roles.
    Empty rooms.

All of this can gnaw away at a person for years,
until they—the grandfather, the aunt, the former teacher—
    make the decision
to no longer want to live.
