    Matthew 6:1-18

1 - Takeheed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye haveno reward of your Father which is in heaven.

2 - Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, asthe hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may haveglory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

3 - Butwhen thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4 - Thatthine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shallreward thee openly.

5 - Andwhen thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love topray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that theymay be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6 - Butthou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thydoor, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth insecret shall reward thee openly.

7 - Butwhen ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think thatthey shall be heard for their much speaking.

8 - Benot ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye haveneed of, before ye ask him.

9 - Afterthis manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thyname.

10 - Thykingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 - Giveus this day our daily bread.

12 - Andforgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 - Andlead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is thekingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

14 - Forif ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

15 - Butif ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive yourtrespasses.

16 - Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: forthey disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I sayunto you, They have their reward.

    17 - Butthou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

18 - Thatthou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: andthy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

    Luke 11:1

1 - Andit came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taughthis disciples.

    Acts 27:42-44

42 - Andthe soldiers' counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swimout, and escape.

43 - Butthe centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; andcommanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea,and get to land:

44 - Andthe rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it cameto pass, that they escaped all safe to land.

    Acts 28:1-11

1 - Andwhen they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.

2 - Andthe barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, andreceived us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

3 - Andwhen Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, therecame a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

4 - Andwhen the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said amongthemselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped thesea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

5 - Andhe shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

6 - Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly:but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, theychanged their minds, and said that he was a god.

7 - Inthe same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose namewas Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.

8 - Andit came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloodyflux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, andhealed him.

9 - Sowhen this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, andwere healed:

10 - Whoalso honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us withsuch things as were necessary.

11 - Andafter three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered inthe isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.
