À propos de cet audio

In the Tafahum wa Tabadul Podcast, experts discuss the implications of extreme weather events, climate change and environmental challenges on West Asia and the Arabian Peninsula region. The WAAP region subsumes the six member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain), as well as Yemen, Iraq and Iran. The podcast is part of the project "Tafahum wa Tabadul – Enhancing Multi-Track Dialogue and Cooperation in West Asia and the Arabian Peninsula (WAAP)" which is implemented by CARPO – Center for Applied Research in Partnership with the Orient and the Gulf Research Center Foundation (GRCF) The aim is to generate further understanding (“tafahum”) among regional stakeholders on the political, experts’ and societal levels, and to foster cooperation and exchange (“tabadul”) on on the basis of that shared understanding regarding relevant regional matters. In the course of this project, various stakeholders like officials, academics and experts as well as civil society actors are engaged on various levels with the aim of generating a political climate that is more conducive to regional cooperation. Furthermore, it aims at collectively examining the energy-climate-health nexus – a concept that entails economic and ecologic sustainability, as well as regional health resilience, and at fostering people-to-people mobility in the region through exchange activities in the fields of academia and civic education.
