Tattoos in old age – what's really behind them?
Tattoos are everywhere these days – on young people, but also on more and more older people. Some simply want to show: “This is who I am.”
But is there perhaps more to it than that?
The desire to be seen
Many people want to be noticed, want their story to be recognized. A tattoo can be something like a visible message: “Look – this means something to me.”
It's often not just about decoration or fashion, but about the feeling of belonging.
Even though many believe that a tattoo makes them “unique,” the motifs are often similar. This shows that we all want to express ourselves – and yet belong at the same time.
