  • Can a balloon be a parents best distraction? (The Buddy Review!)
    May 8 2023

The Buddy Review Podcast is a weekly show where Scott and Casille discuss their favorite TV shows, movies, and other pop culture topics. In this episode, they talk about the Australian children's animated TV show Bluey. They particularly focus on the episode "Keepy Uppy", where the two main characters, Bluey and Bingo, play Keepy Uppy with their parents. The hosts discuss “yes and” and why it’s important as well as keeping kids occupied while you must do other things around the house and how it's important to have a game where they can play, but at the same time, something where you are able to do what you need to do.

In this episode, Scott and Casille talk about the importance of fostering a sense of cooperation and to take the ideas of others, accept them in their entirety and add to them by utilizing a classic Improv rule “Yes and”. This not only applies to fun theatrical performances, but also to playing with kids and even engaging with one another on a deeper emotional level. Playing, relationships, and entertainment could get stale if the individuals involved are not actively participating in pushing along the story.

It can be difficult to entertain children when you need to get housework done, but simple games and the incorporation of improvisational rules can go a long way with helping keep them engaged and occupied.

  • Problems kids face at the Hospital (The Buddy Review!)
    May 1 2023

The Buddy Review Podcast is a weekly show where Scott and Casille discuss their favorite TV shows, movies, and other pop culture topics. In this episode, they talk about the Australian children's animated TV show Bluey. They particularly focus on the episode "Hospital", where the two main characters, Bluey and Bingo, play hospital with their dad. The hosts discuss how the episode accurately portrays the experience of being a child in a hospital, and how it can be a scary and confusing experience for kids. They also talk about how the episode shows the importance of communication and explaining things to kids in a way that they can understand.

In this episode Scott and Casille talk about how it's important to explain things to kids in a way that they can understand. Kids don't have the same understanding of the world as adults, so it's important to break things down for them in a way that they can make sense of. This is especially important when it comes to scary or confusing experiences, like going to the hospital. By taking the time to explain things to kids, we can help them feel more comfortable and less scared.

Another topic on this episode is that it's important to be patient with kids. Kids are still learning and growing, so they're not going to understand everything right away. It's important to be patient with them and to give them the time they need to learn. This is especially important when it comes to communicating with kids. By being patient, we can help kids feel more comfortable and confident in communicating with us.
