The Church "Feminist"

  • Résumé

  • I was once told that I was as feminist as one could be in the Church of Christ. At the time, I didn't know if I was supposed to take offense or see it as a compliment. I mean, how does one reply to that? However, now that a few years have passed, I find that I am content with being considered a "church feminist." For years, I have struggled with finding a balance between my role as a woman in the church and my role as a woman in the world. The Bible speaks often on a woman being quiet and submissive. Anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that I am not good at either of those things. I am the loud and opinionated type. Not exactly the "picture-perfect" Christian woman. Knowing this about myself, I often questioned if I was being a good Christian and if God would be pleased with me. After a few years of studying on this, I feel ready to embrace my role and hope to be able to reach others who may be feeling this way as well. Please follow along with this blog if: You feel like the church "feminist." You are wanting to figure out how to balance the different roles you find yourself in throughout your life. You are wanting to gain confidence in your roles. You are wanting to be more active in your congregation and in your personal evangelism.
