  • The Ideal Woodsman with Johnny Stewart
    Sep 12 2025

Welcome back to the HuntBetter podcast, today we’re hanging out with…I think one of the best woodsmen alive today — the great Johnny Stewart.

Johnny is one of my favorite hunters because of a few things…his work ethic…how he thinks…how he gathers information…how he processes that information…and then how we capitalizes on those opportunities that are in front of him. Whether it’s business or whitetails…Johnny is a great example of just getting after it…of working hard and having this mindset of “always be learning.”

His ability to decipher sign is another thing worth noticing in this podcast. He’ll notice things that most guys don’t notice, but he doesn’t just notice that stuff…he uses it to lessen the gap between him and a mature whitetail. It’s really an incredible thing to just sit back and listen to him talk about his process, and I’m excited that we get to do that together.

So, thanks again for being here…let’s jump into the podcast

  • Putting In The Work with Joe Miles
    Aug 30 2025

Hey what’s happening everybody, welcome back to the HuntBetter Podcast…today we’re hanging out with the one and only Joe Miles of ASIO Gear. Joe has been a great friend of HuntBetter since the very beginning and has always cheered us on, and man he just has a special place in the heart of HuntBetter.

Joe has done amazing things in the world of hunting and honestly it would take me the entire podcast to tell you all of his accomplishments in the field. But let’s start from a 30k foot view…he’s been a hunting guide in Africa, he’s knocked down some world-class whitetails here in the states…and a few years ago he started a camo empire called ASIO Gear…and I think it’s some of the highest quality hunting apparel out there. Really nice top shelf stuff.

All that said, Joe Miles is one of those figures within the hunting community that stands to be studied. I really love how his brain works…and you’ll hear this in the podcast today, he likes to keep things very simple…starting almost from a “first principles” approach…basically he likes to build a working perspective from the ground up based on real-life experiences, trial and error, and results…rather than just throwing caution to the wind, and just trusting what everybody else says. That ain’t Joe. And don’t get me wrong, he’s all about learning as much as he can from whoever he can, but he’s also not gonna be quick to over-complicate something just because. And I’m telling you guys, this man’s knowledge of whitetails is through the roof. He understands their behavior, he understands their means of survival, he knows what causes certain reactions in certain whitetails while it may not bother other ones….I mean, the dude just oozes with wisdom and real-life experience.

Lastly, Joe’s one of the nicest guys I’ve met within the hunting community, and honestly whether it’s whitetails or just life in general, he’s always been a friend who’s willing to lend an ear and help however he can, and I’m just super thankful for that. And one thing you’ll notice about Joe from the podcast today is that he’s not afraid to put the work in to get the results he’s looking for. And honestly, that’s a huge understatement. You spend 5 minutes with the guy and you’re like wow, this dude can grind. I think if Joe had a motto, it would be something like, “Do your research. Do the work. Test it. Ask questions. Repeat.” And man, he lives it, day in and day out…and I really do believe that every hunter has something to learn from Joe Miles. And I’m thankful to call him friend.

So, thanks for being here. We hope you enjoy it. Let’s go ahead and jump into the podcast.

  • Instinctual Hunting with Jared Scheffler (Special Guest Andy May)
    Aug 16 2025

What’s up everybody welcome back to the HuntBetter Podcast. Today we’re hanging out with one of my favorite guys in the world of hunting — Mr. Jared Scheffler of Whitetail Adrenaline.

And man when it comes to chasing animals down, when it comes to bows and arrows, and really just that primitive style of hunting, Jared really is one of the great culture keepers within the sport of hunting. Any anytime I chat with Jared on the phone or over text, we never discuss strategy or anything like that…it’s always this…I don’t know…more of this philosophical type conversation where he helps me stop overthinking everything…and he’s helped me learn to trust my gut, he’s helped me become a better instinctual archer…he’s like my personal hunting sage….very wise and helps me think, but warns me to not overthink…if that makes sense.

Anywho…all that said, this episode is gonna be a little different than what you’re probably expecting, but I think content like this that goes beyond mere strategies and tactics is really needed in the hunting world today, and I think it’s crucial as we try to preserve the culture of hunting and the art of woodsmanship. So rather than tips and tricks, you’re gonna hear us talk more about the instinctual side of hunting…more about the mental side of things and the philosophy of developing this inner compass of woodsmanship that can actually help you become way more successful in the field, and more importantly, we hope this conversation helps you enjoy the sport of hunting in a new and refreshing way, and to appreciate this way of life that so many of us belong to.

Also, we got special guest Andy May joining us for the first little bit as him and Jared go back a good ways and it was super fun hearing them catch up and talk shop. So, again thanks for being here. Let’s go ahead and jump into the podcast…

  • Woodsmanship Always Wins with Ryan Glitsky
    Aug 9 2025

What’s up everybody, welcome back to the HuntBetter Podcast where we are working hard to preserve the culture of hunting and the art of woodsmanship.

Really excited to have Ryan Glitsky from Pennsylvania on this week and man - I just had a blast talking to him and picking his brain on all things whitetails. Ryan is a master rut hunter and a has a lot of proof hanging on his walls, and what makes him so successful is that he leads with his humility and his hunger for learning and leaves any bit of ego in dust. He’s such a down to earth dude, and such a fun guy to talk shop with, because he’s always in that mode of willing to learning something new, no matter who he’s talking to.

Ryan also has an insane work ethic. He’s not afraid to put in the miles if that’s what it takes. But you’ll notice in this episode that he likes to confirm what he’s heard by getting boots on the ground. In other words, he’s gonna soak up the knowledge and wisdom that he hears from other guys, but he’s gonna get boots on the ground to make sure it’s relevant to his location, his style of hunting, the attitude of the deer in that area, and so on. Even after all these years of success, and all the amazing bucks on his wall, he’s still a student of the game and I know Ryan would agree with me on this — we hope that’s the main thing you take away from this episode and really the HuntBetter Podcast as a whole. Always be learning.

With that said, let’s go ahead and jump in…

  • Mature Buck Behavior with Dan Infalt
    Aug 2 2025

What’s happening everybody, welcome back to the HuntBetter Podcast where our mission is to preserve the culture of hunting and the art of woodsmanship. Today we’re hanging out with a man who has made such an enormous impact on the sport of hunting and has helped so many guys learn mature buck behavior and how to capitalize on these bucks in a variety of terrains and different habitats.

For me personally, Dan Infalt has elevated my love for the outdoors and my success in the woods. And all of that stems from his desire and his devotion to pass on the wisdom he’s acquired over the last few decades to those who are willing to learn and grow. And so much of his content was and is free of charge, things like the Hunting Beast forum. There’s so much content there that you could never read it all, but man — it’s definitely worth spending a lot of time there.

Also, I’d love for you to support Dan and all that he’s got going on, because he’s just done so much for me and for lots of other hunters over the years. Some of my favorite stuff Dan has put out over the years are his bedding DVDs. You got farm bedding, hill country bedding, swamp bedding, and several more. If you are wanting to increase your success rate with mature bucks, those will put you miles ahead of where you are currently. And Dan ain’t paying me a dime to say that, I’m saying it because I have those DVDs and they totally changed my life, my hunting success went through the roof. The wisdom in those DVDs are invaluable. Go get them all and watch them at least 9 times each.

Last thing I’ll say, Dan has always been someone who was willing to help little people like me get better. I remember reaching out to Dan years ago on the hunting beast forum, and honestly I thought it was a shot in the dark…I mean, he’s Dan Infalt, right? A few hours later, I got a notification and it was a message from Dan, and he took the time to give me an in-depth answer to my question, and I’ll never forget that.

  • Hunting Mountain Bucks with Nathan Killen
    Jul 25 2025

Today we’re hanging out with one of my great friends and seriously the best mountain buck hunter that I know personally — Mr. Nathan Killen. I’m sure if you’re listening to this, like me, you’ve learned so much from Nathan over the last few years. And every time I talk to Nathan, I’m just blown away by his depth of knowledge, which is often times hard to put into words, and actually in this episode you’ll hear us talk about the “instinctual side of hunting” and how most of the time, you just have to put in the work, grind it out, and let the woods and the critters that live there teach you and help you develop that instinctual element of hunting, because you know what, that’s the one tool in your toolbox that can honestly make you more lethal than everybody else. But you gotta work for it, as you’ll hear Nathan mention.

  • Hunting Big Woods Bucks with Steve Sherk
    Jul 18 2025

Today, we’re hanging out with one of my good friends and one of my favorite guys in the world of DIY hunting, Steve Sherk of Sherk’s Guide Service. Steve’s been a great friend to HuntBetter over the years, and he’s been so generous in the sharing of his wisdom and knowledge.

One thing you’ll quickly learn about Steve, and really all the great successful hunters of our time, is that he’s always learning. He’s never thinking that he’s got it all figured out. He’s always trying to hone his edge and that equates to a ton of time in the woods, a ton of boot leather laid down, and honestly, just a ton of humility — especially when he’s already so successful chasing mature, big woods bucks. So if you take anything away from this podcast, I hope that it’s Steve’s willingness to continue learning and then to continue passing along what he’s learned so that other generations can benefit and grow into great woodsmen.
