Losing weight and living an active lifestyle might sound simple, but it’s so much more than just logic and willpower. In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m diving into the real reason so many people struggle to “just do it.” It’s not that you don’t want it enough, it’s that you’re battling two sides of yourself…the logical part that knows what actions to take and the emotional part that’s often ignored in mainstream fitness messaging.

I’m sharing how emotions around food, body image, and self-worth are not weaknesses but real parts of your journey that deserve attention. We talk about how powerful it is to sit in silence, connect with your thoughts, and begin to untangle where those critical inner voices came from. I’ll also walk you through simple practices like journaling and mirror work to help you speak positively to yourself and reshape how you see your reflection, inside and out.

This episode is all about learning to calm your mind so that the actions you take in fitness and health feel sustainable and genuine. It’s not just knowing what to do, it’s creating the mindset and inner connection so you can finally do it.

If you’re ready to approach fitness from the inside/out, there are plenty of resources waiting for you, whether you want to explore on your own or work together for more guidance. Let’s keep building a lifestyle you enjoy and can stick with for the long run.

    Episode Description:

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m talking about why so many of us end up chasing things outside of ourselves, trying to fit in or prove something, and how that path often leads to emptiness. From a young age, we’re conditioned to look around and see what everyone else is doing. Social media makes it even easier to fall into this trap, feeding us images and stories that make us question our own path or feel we need to “one-up” someone else.

But here’s the thing. The people we’re trying so hard to impress or fit in with are often just as caught up trying to impress someone else. It’s a cycle that leaves us anxious, restless, and disconnected from who we really are. Even if you “make it” into the in-crowd or hit a goal you were chasing for the wrong reasons, you’ll likely find it feels empty. And then you’re left searching for the next thing, thinking that’s where you’ll finally feel good enough.

Instead, I want you to choose yourself. I want you to stay connected to who you are and focus on building a life that truly feels right to you. That’s what living from the inside/out is all about. It’s about quieting the noise, taking ownership of your life, and learning that the highest form of discipline isn’t just working out or eating well. It’s choosing to love, accept, and connect with yourself, even when the world around you says you shouldn’t.

Health and fitness are great places to practice these skills, but they’re not the end goal. The real goal is building a life where you feel calm, steady, and in control because you’re living for yourself, not for anyone else’s expectations.

    Episode Description:

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m digging into a big challenge that so many of us face, especially in the fitness space. It’s that endless loop of worrying about what other people are doing, thinking, or achieving. I’m not here to simply tell you to “stop comparing yourself” because we all know it’s not that easy. Instead, I want you to do it less. Even reducing it a little bit can make a huge difference in how you feel about your own journey.

We talk about why we get so caught up in other people’s actions and how that’s often tied to our own insecurities. If you find yourself fixated on what someone else is doing, ask yourself why. This is a powerful place to start. You deserve to know the reasons behind your own thoughts and feelings because they shape the actions you take.

So much of fitness, and life, is driven by mindset. The physical actions matter, but connecting deeply with your own thoughts and emotions takes your progress to another level. That’s what living an inside/out life is all about. I want you to build a life where you appreciate, like, and love yourself at every stage, not just when you hit certain goals.

If this resonates with you, make sure you subscribe to the show. Check out all the resources I have for you, from the daily email to the YLF Framework and even coaching options if you want more one-on-one support. This journey is about more than just results, it’s about how you feel along the way. I’d love to help you make it a process you actually enjoy.

Thanks for being here and keep doing your best… I’m rooting for you!

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m diving into one of the most overlooked skills for living a forever active lifestyle, and that’s getting comfortable cooking your own food at home. You don’t need to be a gourmet chef or create perfect meals for Instagram. It’s all about knowing what you like and finding simple ways to prepare it so you’ll actually want to eat it consistently. I talk about my journey from eating out all the time to learning basic meal prep, experimenting with new recipes, and discovering how seasoning alone can transform a meal. I share how I’ve moved from bland meal prep to prepping versatile components I can mix and match, plus how having foods like baked potatoes or frozen meals can still fit into a balanced approach. Cooking at home gives you more control over portions, ingredients, and overall nutrition, which helps whether you’re losing weight or maintaining your results. It takes time, but it’s a skill worth developing for your inside/out lifestyle.

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m talking about why you shouldn’t believe everything you think, especially when it comes to fitness goals, healthy eating, and building an inside/out life. I share how journaling helps me see my thoughts more clearly and how writing things down allows you to observe your mindset without so much judgment. The more we can step back and evaluate our thoughts, the better we’ll get at spotting blind spots and making calmer, more deliberate choices in our fitness journey and everyday life. Therapy helps too, but it all starts with simply getting your thoughts out of your head and looking at them with curiosity. Remember, the goal isn’t to be perfect but to stay aware, learn, and keep moving forward.

Your past does not define your future. In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m talking about why that is true for your health and fitness journey, especially if you’ve spent decades on the diet rollercoaster. So many of us have been dieting or thinking about changing our bodies since we were teenagers, caught in the loop of starting programs, stopping, and feeling like we’re never quite enough. It’s time to break free from that cycle.

Instead of jumping into plans that tell you exactly what to do, I want you to focus on building a foundation rooted in your preferences. Start with the foods you enjoy, and the exercises you’re willing and able to do, and create a baseline that’s yours. From there, you can try new tools and tactics, but now they’ll be grounded in what fits you rather than feeling forced.

This shift helps you connect what you love with what you’re trying to achieve, which is how you build a forever active lifestyle. We also talk about the dangerous emphasis on “the finish line,” like a goal weight or body comp, and how that expectation rarely brings the lasting happiness or calm you’re hoping for. Instead, the real unlock is learning to live in maintenance by creating a life you genuinely enjoy.

In this episode, I challenge you to think about whether you’d trade three years of focused effort to set yourself up for decades of freedom and comfort in your own skin. Because living an inside/out life is not about quick fixes. It’s about taking back control, connecting with yourself, and choosing actions that align with who you are and how you want to live.

If part of you finds comfort in always starting over, ask yourself if that’s how you truly want to spend the rest of your life. It’s never too late to build your foundation and discover what truly works for you.

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m diving deep into the topic of food noise, a concept that’s been buzzing around weight loss conversations, especially with the rise of GLP-1 medications. We talk about how food noise isn’t something you can completely eliminate, but how you can absolutely take the edge off and manage it in ways that fit your life.

I share how emotional patterns, thoughts, and long-held beliefs play into the chatter we hear around food and how practical habits like adjusting meal frequency, meal size, and even using photo journaling can help bring clarity. We explore why thinking about your next meal is not a weakness, but a normal part of living in a culture where food is tied to so many of our experiences.

Plus, I explain why absolutes can be harmful in weight loss, how the marketing around food and medications fuels confusion, and why our choices still remain our responsibility. Whether you’re exploring new tools like GLP-1’s under medical supervision or just trying to navigate your daily food thoughts, there’s something in this episode for you.

Thanks for tuning in, and remember, this is all about building a sustainable lifestyle from the inside/out.

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m sharing how everything has its place in the fitness space and how building your forever active lifestyle is like putting together a giant puzzle. We talk about how diets, programs, surgeries, medications, and every tool you see online can work for someone, even if it’s not the right fit for you right now.

I explain why it’s so important to stay curious and open to testing new things, rather than getting stuck in all-or-nothing thinking or picking sides in social media debates. You’ll hear why your foundation is like the outside edges of a puzzle, giving you structure so you can fit other pieces into your life in a way that makes sense for you.

We also cover how your preferences and needs will change over time, and how that’s completely normal. When you stay curious and build enjoyment into your routines, consistency becomes easier, and that’s how you build the best program for yourself.

If you’re new to the inside/out approach, there are plenty of ways to explore this at your own pace, like my daily email, the YLF Blog, and the other resources linked above. And if you’d like more personalized help putting your puzzle together, check out the coaching options on my website.
