À propos de cet audio

As an associate professor of music and worship and part-time worship pastor, Cliff has spent years thinking deeply about the songs that we sing together as a church during our corporate worship services. Yet, instead of being another deconstructing voice, Cliff seeks to foster thought-provoking and edifying conversations with folks who create and lead the songs we sing in corporate worship.

  • AI and the Worship Leader with Travis Doucette - PART 2
    Jun 16 2025

My guest on this month’s episode is an experienced worship pastor, educator, and songwriter who has provided oversight to one of the largest multi-campus churches in Virginia. I knew I wanted to pull from his expertise and finally got a chance to talk with Canadian native, Travis Doucette, the creator of a brand new training resource for worship leaders… myworshiptrainer.com. Check it out!

I’ve known Travis for several years through our connections at Liberty University. The thing I love about Travis is that before his abilities as a musician, artist, or leader, He identifies as a child of God, and that reality guides everything he does.
In this first part of a two-part episode, Travis and I discuss the inevitable relationship between the worship pastor/leader/planner and AI. We both understand the spiritual tensions that come with utilizing technology, especially technology that produces human-like responses. You’re going to love Travis’ insights into ways worship leaders can use AI and the safeguards they can put in place to ensure corporate worship is biblically sound and Holy Spirit-led. Travis currently resides in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. I pray this episode provides encouragement and guidance as you lead your church in worship. Leave us some feedback with some of your thoughts as well.

  • Worship Song Contextualization with Dr. Ryan Loche of the Church Collective
    Apr 3 2025

My guest on this month's episode was long overdue! I got a chance to talk with Dr. Ryan Loche, the co-founder of The Church Collective https://www.instagram.com/thechurchcollective/. If you’re unfamiliar with this non-profit that encourages and resources worship leaders, you need to check it out on Instagram. I’ve known Dr. Loche for about 10 years, and he’s the real deal. He has served as a worship pastor in California and continues to pour his experience into young worship leaders at the collegiate level.

In this episode, Dr. Loche and I discuss worship song contextualization. In other words, choosing songs that are not only biblically true and musically singable but also relatable on a “need” level within our churches. You’re going to love Dr. Loche’s insights in these areas. Dr. Loche currently resides in the Nashville area with his wife, Charity, and their four children. I pray this episode provides encouragement and guidance as you lead your church of worship. Leave us some feedback with some of your thoughts as well.
