*Four steps for rest commanded by Naomi:

1) Naomi commands Ruth to wash (v.3a)

2) Naomi commands Ruth to anoint herself (v.3b)

3) Naomi commands Ruth to put on her cloak (v.3c)

4) Naomi commands Ruth to present herself to Boaz (v.4-5)

BIG IDEA: God’s loyal love does not forsake the living or the dead.

* Three ways God’s loyal love shows through the actions of Boaz:

1) Boaz has providentially taken notice of Ruth. (v.19)

2) Boaz has the potential to redeem what’s been lost to Naomi. (v.20)

3) Boaz has promised extended protection & provision for Ruth and Naomi. (v.21-23)

BIG IDEA: God’s people are surrounded by God’s grace.

1)The route of God’s grace is a happy-to-do-it Boaz. (v.8,9)

2)The recipient of God’s grace is an unentitled Ruth. (v.10)

3)The reason for this grace is her loyal love to Naomi. (v.11,12)

4)The root of that grace is a self-glorifying Yahweh. (v.13)

5)The result of God’s grace is a satisfaction-exceeding abundance that overflows to others. (v.14-18)

a.The result of God’s grace is satisfaction beyond mere sustenance. (v.14)
b.The result of God’s grace is permission for unusual abundance. (v.15,16)
