Winter 1940: With soldiers parading down the Avenue des Champs-Élysees, Nazi flags dangling from the Arc de Triomphe, and the Eiffel Tower defaced with German propaganda, Parisians have little to celebrate as Christmas approaches. Police Inspector Henri Lefort's wishes for a quiet holiday season are dashed when the Gestapo orders him to investigate the disappearance of Dr. Viktor Brandt, a neurologist involved in a secret project at one of Paris's hospitals.

But Jox McNabb and No.111 Squadron start to feel like they are being lured into a trap. And their new leader is acting unpredictably, making them worried that he can't be trusted.

When American WWII bombardier Micah Lund dies on a mission over Japan, his spirit remains trapped as a yurei ghost. Dazed, he follows Kiyomi Oshiro, a war widow struggling to care for her young daughter, Ai, as food is scarce, work at the factory is brutal, and her in-laws treat her like a servant. Watching Kiyomi and Ai together, Micah's intolerance for the enemy is challenged. As his concern for the mother and daughter grows, so does his guilt for his part in their suffering.

MI6 Agent Katrin Nissen is Winston Churchill's last hope to convince his government to let him mine the coast of Norway to prevent Hitler from reaching the iron ore reserves that will fuel the Nazi war machine. The proof Churchill needs is to be found in a beef processing plant in the coastal town of Kolding, Denmark. The strategy is simple. As the army gears up for the invasion, food supplies will move with them, and Churchill will be able to chart their path to the coast as they prepare to invade Norway.

When Jox McNabb is expelled from school he is forced to look to his future. Inspired by the sight of a Hurricane flying over him, he becomes determined to join the RAF. And after basic training, Jox is posted to RAF Montrose with the growing group of other recruits he has met along the way.

Enemy raiders are bombing Britain's cities relentlessly. Casualties are high and morale is at an all-time low. Jox McNabb and the rest of No.111 Squadron train to become night fighters to take on the raiders inflicting such carnage on Britain's cities. But then tragedy strikes and Jox is devastated by the loss of those close to him.
