MI6 Agent Katrin Nissen is Winston Churchill's last hope to convince his government to let him mine the coast of Norway to prevent Hitler from reaching the iron ore reserves that will fuel the Nazi war machine. The proof Churchill needs is to be found in a beef processing plant in the coastal town of Kolding, Denmark. The strategy is simple. As the army gears up for the invasion, food supplies will move with them, and Churchill will be able to chart their path to the coast as they prepare to invade Norway.

When Stefan Jochum returns from England to Berlin in August 1945, it is to find a city counting the cost of the Second World War. 1943: When a safe house in Nazi-occupied the Netherlands becomes too dangerous for Edith, she flees. Injured, she meets Erich who promises to take her to his family's home for medical attention. En route she awakens to discover that they've entered Nazi Germany—the last place she wants to be as a Jew. In need of concealing her faith, and with limited choices, Edith becomes the private teacher to Erich's young brothers. Her roommate is a Roma with a tragic past and also hides from the Nazis in plain sight.

When Jox McNabb is expelled from school he is forced to look to his future. Inspired by the sight of a Hurricane flying over him, he becomes determined to join the RAF. And after basic training, Jox is posted to RAF Montrose with the growing group of other recruits he has met along the way.

When American WWII bombardier Micah Lund dies on a mission over Japan, his spirit remains trapped as a yurei ghost. Dazed, he follows Kiyomi Oshiro, a war widow struggling to care for her young daughter, Ai, as food is scarce, work at the factory is brutal, and her in-laws treat her like a servant. Watching Kiyomi and Ai together, Micah's intolerance for the enemy is challenged. As his concern for the mother and daughter grows, so does his guilt for his part in their suffering.

The Allies and Fighter Command have gone on the offensive. The French town of Dieppe is selected for the first major assault on the European continent. But Jox McNabb and No.111 Squadron start to feel like they are being lured into a trap. And their new leader is acting unpredictably, making them worried that he can't be trusted.

Enemy raiders are bombing Britain's cities relentlessly. Casualties are high and morale is at an all-time low. Jox McNabb and the rest of No.111 Squadron train to become night fighters to take on the raiders inflicting such carnage on Britain's cities. But then tragedy strikes and Jox is devastated by the loss of those close to him.
