Nestled in an overlooked part of the Mediterranean, Dog Island is home to a quiet and untouched community that has long lived off its fishing, its vines, and its olive trees, far away from the turmoil its neighbors. Melody Marshal runs a famous bakery with her loyal assistants and lovely Frenchie Smudge. She no longer enters the pie competition having won it for many years. Now she is a judge. When her fellow judge, Peter Wexler, dies during the tasting, the finger points at the meek librarian. Melody does not believe her friend could have done this and yet the evidence is mounting up.
