Following the end of their quest to find the legendary Owen Deathstalker, Lewis and his group of Madness Maze survivors take the new rebel fleet in search of allies. On the Empire’s home world, the exiled King Douglas begins to marshal his own forces amid the outcasts of the Rookery, enlisting a number of unlikely elements to his cause. Tatiana claims she has been sent to locate an heirloom, lost by immigrants centuries ago, but she and the alphas both suspect that Russia fears the strength of the newly-united, continent-spanning Roanoke pack. What Tatiana doesn't realize is that her pack is willing to sacrifice even their own trained spy for their goals.

A new religion is rising, gathering followers drawn by rumors of prophetess Jane Oden. Her sister, Cinzia - onetime Cantic priestess - is by her side but fears that Jane will lead them to ruin. For both the church and the Nazaniin assassins are still on their trail, and much worse may come.

Playing the Lady goes against all of Silver's beliefs, but she yields to Mikhail’s invitation for her to join him in Russia.

The Spear of Lugh, one of the four Kingly Hallows of Ireland is in Chicago. And everyone, everyone wants it, for it is said that he who carries the spear into battle cannot be defeated. Among those who seek it are an agent of the infamous Wild Hunt; a mobster who knows far more about these things than he should; and of course both the Seelie and Unseelie Courts - the last people PI Mick Oberon would want getting hold of the spear....
