古今亭志ん五は1966年（昭和41年）に入門、内弟子として日暮里の志ん生宅へ。以来大師匠志ん生が亡くなる1973年まで7年間にわたり大師匠の世話をし、その後は志ん朝の惣領弟子として活躍。しかし分裂騒動で昇進を断り、真打ちになったのは1982年である。語り手の六代目志ん橋とは兄弟弟子、日暮里の時代を一緒に過ごした仲である。大師匠とのやりとり、師匠志ん朝とのエピソードなど13篇にまとめました。古今亭志ん五、名人志ん生の最後の弟子そして志ん朝の惣領弟子。2010年9月61歳で他界。聞き手は志ん朝師とも親交の深い間柄であった元ニッポン放送演芸プロデューサー塙宏
