Charlie Mason (a.k.a. Mace) is a former detective of major crimes who is forced to retire. His former captain offers him a job as an in-game constable for the hottest virtual reality game around, Immersion Online. This down-and-out detective knows nothing of character creation, leveling up, or magical artifacts. He is a noob. He spawns in the Wilderbrook - a group of human and humanoid villages hundreds of miles from the nearest city - to learn the ins and outs of the game before he assumes his role as a constable in Grandview, one of the largest cities in The Great Realm.

Kyra Bishop sits in a jail cell, facing the consequences of her refusal to betray her principles. The in-game murder of her arch-enemy by a new ally has landed her in peril. To secure her freedom, Kyra is forced to swallow her pride and make a deal with the one she loathes most, so she begrudgingly allows him to join her crew. But when she returns to Retribution, her powerful new ally, Admiral Grieves, introduces a mysterious passenger whose revelations about the demigoddess haunting Kyra's existence send shockwaves through her reality.

For Hudson, the virtual world of PrimeVerse isn't all bad. It's beautiful; much nicer than overpopulated Earth. It almost feels like a vacation except for the volatile wildlife, lack of any amenities, and - oh yeah - the inability to log out. Exploring the world, learning his class, and leveling skills is all fun and games until a powerful rogue player with a vendetta shows up to wipe out Hudson and his primitive tribe. Thrust into a conflict he didn't create, Hudson is forced into a cycle of respawning where he learns that even death can be used as a tool. So much for that vacation.

I was in my garage when the space elves addressed the whole world. They didn't call themselves space elves, of course. Most humans struggled to pronounce Khjurhnalva, so we opted for the easier version. They had a message for us: Forces that had eradicated their species' males were now heading for Earth. Hungry for our resources, the alien hordes annihilate everything that stands in their way. The space elves offered us access to the System and asked for very little in return. After all, cooperation was vital to the survival of both our species.

The journey started! What can you expect in this episode? Well...a hilarious road trip, vicious training, the introduction of certain maidens, and even a guest from the Infinite Library.... The team however faces quite the pain-in-the-ass obstacles. The attacks on them aside, it is time to take on a being who has harassed the party since volume 3.
