Napoléon était un stratège mais ce fut aussi un écrivain. Son récit de son ascension depuis le collège jusqu'au grade de général d'armée est riche d'enseignement. Est-ce qu'il se fait la part belle dans ce récit, sans doute un peu mais il y a aussi une certaine sincérité quand il parle du rôle de Barras auprès de Joséphine. Il avoue son anxiété.

In WWI the terror of German submarines was completely justified. This invisible menace was a constant threat to allied shipping able to strike anywhere day or night.
