Only Charles gets cursed by the gods. The Death of Champions, book 2: The gods have begun to change Earth, leaving humanity confused and desperate. Charles and Alli have managed to survive the first week of the apocalypse; unfortunately for them, it isn't over yet.

With Nevermore done and dusted, it’s back to Earth where the fight for the Milky Way Galaxy is about to begin... But first, a fun trip to the moon with Jake’s best-buddy space worm, Sandy. After that little adventure, it’s time for the final preparations before the long-awaited Prima Guardian arrives, signaling the start of the battle for the Milky Way Galaxy. A battle that turns out to be a large ordeal, with every inhabited planet in the galaxy involved and free to either ally with one another or face the System Event alone.

I always figured I’d eventually get killed in my line of work. I just assumed I’d stay dead at that point. I was the one people hired to do the killing, after all. I knew a thing or two about how death worked. So when I was finally taken down during a high-profile hit, I was ready to embrace death with open arms. Except I didn’t fully die. Not yet, at least. Some crazy afterlife system seems to have had me on its radar for a while now, and I’ve just been recruited to kill my way through a whole different world like it is a demented video game.

A century ago, the Sentience Wars tore the galaxy apart and nearly ended the entire concept of intelligent space-faring life. In the aftermath, a curious tradition was invented - something to cheer up everyone who was left and bring the shattered worlds together in the spirit of peace, unity, and understanding. And as Daniel is the big, strong, handsome type, Orrin is more than happy to remain in his shadow at school, at parties, pretty much everywhere. Then things take a turn for the truly weird when a terrible accident catapults the pair into a world totally unlike their own, in which the rules of a role-playing game hold sway.
