Publisher's Summary

On the night of the blood moon, the Vampire Lord must die.

Floriane's position as the forge maiden of Hunter's Hamlet is one of reverence, for it is her skill that arms and protects the vampire hunters. She knows her place and is a faithful servant to the Master Hunter and her community...until the night of the blood moon. Until her brother is dying at the hands of the Vampire Lord Ruvan.

Wanting to defend her home at all costs, Floriane fights the vampire lord, ready to give her life if it means taking his. But Ruvan doesn't want to take her life...he wants her.

Kidnapped and brought to the vampire castle, Floriane is now blood sworn to the vampire lord. She is bound in mind and body to her worst enemy. But Ruvan isn’t the fiend she thought he was. She learns the truth of the vampires: They are not mindless monsters, but a proud people, twisted and tortured by an ancient curse.

Ruvan believes that Floriane might be the key to ending his people's suffering. All Floriane wants is to defend her home. Loyalties are tested and the line between truth and lie is blurred.

When her dagger is at his chest, will she be able to take the heart of the man who has claimed hers?

A darkly reimagined Snow White meets inspiration from Beauty and the Beast in an epic fantasy world of hunters, vampires, and curses that run deeper than blood. This stand-alone is complete with a "happily ever after" ending. It's perfect for fantasy romance fans looking for just the right amount of steam and their next slow-burn and swoon-worthy, enemies-to-lovers story.

While it is set in the Married to Magic universe, listeners can start with this book.

Enjoyed this more than book 1 & 2

I have to say, after book 2, my expectations were lower :s (Note: as with the other books, this can be read as a stand alone.) However, this book hit all the right points. Although overall darker (it does deal with blood rites and curses) the world building was good and the Magic system explained much better compared to book 1 and 2. There was not the dry repetition seen in book 2 - example: when Florian repeated her thoughts of hatered or doubt it was productive, for each time you witnessed some growth in wisdom, she developed more of the ability to see situations from other points of view and experienced overall personal growth .(Huzzah for character development!) Ruvan and Florian, most likely due to their upbringing and family situations, were mature for their ages and grew well together as a couple. The 'hate to love' story was well done and I appreciated the overall plot line. The habit of hate which is passed down through generations can not be changed overnight, and Ms Kova communicated this and did an excellent job leading the reader through a story of a hopeless situation which transforms into a new beginning and new hope for the characters.

Another great book by Elisa Kova

Loved this, my second favourite in the series after A Dance With the Fae Prince. Gothic, dark, rich in lore and world building. A sweet happy ending.

Mystery, fantasy and romance

An intricate story that unfolds in layers like an onion, You will change your mind several times as you follow the protagonists in trying to figure out the origins of an ancient curse.

It’s a hate to love romance, slow burn with a great background story that keeps you interested. I love a “one-and-done” all inclusive story. Trilogies can be a bit tedious at times, this is a nice break from those longer tales.

The performance is definitely easy on the ears.

Very satisfying overall!
