Publisher's Summary
Dr. Galen Burgess has a reputation for keeping it casual. She likes women close - but not too close. Nothing is more important to her than her budding surgical career as chief surgical resident at Boston City Hospital. After spending years trying, and failing, to please her father, Galen knows getting close enough to care is a recipe for heartbreak.
Everything in her carefully structured life begins to change when she meets her newest intern, the disconcertingly beautiful Dr. Rowan Duncan. Sheltered doesn’t even begin to describe Rowan’s comfortable, quiet life before moving to Boston.
When Rowan starts to fall for Galen, everything Rowan's ever known comes into question, including her relationship with high school sweetheart Brian. With her own heart on the line, will Rowan have the courage to make the cut, or risk losing Galen forever?

Medical drama and love
I purchased this book because I found the 2nd book and wanted to get to know the MC better. I think the story was flushed out and very sweet. For surgeons and their usually aggressive personalities, it may even be fairly accurate. I also love Lori P.
However, the ending was definitely rushed. There was a great build up. The right things were said too. It just felt a little flat. This frustration that you feel throughout the conflict is delicious, but it just sort of deflates at the end.

A Hospital Romance
Dr. Rowan Duncan arrives for her first year residency ready to give everything it takes to succeed as a surgeon. The Resident in charge is Dr Galen Burgess and she’s talented and a real player. Both are suddenly totally aware of each other and Rowan whole perception of her sexuality is completely turned over. Great performance and story. Recommend.

Sleep is overrated
I haven't slept but a few hours since I bought the book. It has been one of my favorites that I've listened to. narrator was on point! Well written. there were times that I laughed out loud. I loved every second of it.

Couldn't help but love it
Galen has it all: good looks, excellent pedigree, mad surgical skills, crazy charm and now the job of chief resident at Boston City Hospital. She is a know player who isn't interested in anything more than quick and uncomplicated sex. But when first year surgical intern Rowan enters her world, all bets are off. There's an immediate attraction between Galen and the straight Rowan and neither really knows how to navigate the waters between them. Before they know it, love busts out all over...but Galen's father (the Chief of Surgery at Boston City) and Rowan's boyfriend may have something to say about it. Perhaps a smidge predictable but a worthy listen.

Tough to get through
This author is one I definitely want to see continue writing. She has a great narrative style and a good grasp of communicating her character's headspace. However, there were three distinct points where I nearly gave up and returned the story. I probably would have if it had had a lesser narrator. All three were wtf? moments where something happening in the story made absolutely no sense. We weren't given enough build up to believe that this was actually how the character would react. That being said, the most egregious of these provided a good story opportunity. Between that and the solid narrative, and decent dialogue skills, I think this author could become one I would seek out for new stories.

Not crazy about the narrator
As a person with a medical background some of the terms and procedures were mispronounced & it was very distracting. Her voice was almost excited with every sentence even when the story was sad. Probably will never get another audio book with this same narrator! BUT the story itself was great & I loved it!!

Great book
Loved everything about this story. The chemistry between Rowan and Galen was off the charts hot. It was well written an I can only hope that Smith continues their story as I kinda felt that it wasn’t ending

Disappointing
Had a hard time getting into story. Seemed very predictable & characters weren’t compelling to me. Think my medical background may have contributed to this more than a bit. Hung in through over a third of the book then had to cut my losses. Disappointing.

Sweet story, excellent narration!
The story was sweet. I liked Rowan and Galen together. There were some funny moments and I even shedded a tear. I also liked the supporting characters Makaila and Teddy-they helped pull the story together and brought a lot of the levity. The narration is what really pulled me into the story. Lori Prince was amazing! I loved how well she distinguished the characters voices. I especially liked Galen and Rowan’s voices. Well done!!
