Ben McGuire, a battle-proven Naval officer, left active duty to save his marriage. In civilian life he works as a computer consultant. Thinking it a low priority issue, Navy officials dispatch the Reservist to run a mission to evacuate scientists from a nearby island. Events on the island will not only reunite him with an old love interest but also place him in a position to affect the balance of power between the U.S. and China for years to come.
