It took me a lifetime to have the courage and the clarity to write my memoir. I want to tell the story of the moments - the ups and downs, the triumphs and traumas, the debacles and the dreams - that contributed to the person I am today. Though there have been countless stories about me throughout my career and very public personal life, it’s been impossible to communicate the complexities and depths of my experience in any single magazine article or a 10-minute television interview. And even then, my words were filtered through someone else’s lens, largely satisfying someone else’s assignment to define me.
This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival, and my songs. Unfiltered. I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side.
Writing this memoir was incredibly hard, humbling and healing. My sincere hope is that you are moved to a new understanding, not only about me, but also about the resilience of the human spirit.

About the author and narrator:
Mariah Carey is an American artist of Black and Irish ancestry.
She is an award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, actress, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. She has recorded 15 studio albums and holds numerous industry records, including the most number-one singles of any solo artist in history.
She has received many accolades, honors, and distinctions throughout her career, including the Congressional Award for her charitable work with youth through the Fresh Air Fund's Camp Mariah. She is an inductee into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Carey remains forever thankful and fiercely loyal to her global family of fans.
Ms. Carey is the mother of two children, Moroccan and Monroe.

A Diva Defined
I highly recommend this book to anyone who feels less-than, lonely, not good enough, an outcast... (and many other adjectives). I especially enjoyed Mariah’s humility. As a lamb (die-hard Mariah fan) it’s wonderful to hear her be so open about things she never really expanded on previously. The audio version of this book is amazing. Mariah includes many a cappella moments of songs she’s preformed thousands of times and songs she had rarely or never performed live. I believe this book did everything that Mariah had intended it to do. I now know the meaning of Mariah Carey.

An amazing listen, whether you're a fan or not
Many people look at Mariah as this diva with the perfect life, but at times it was anything BUT perfect.
It's easy to write her off and forget about all of her amazing accomplishments but through it all with her voice and quick wit, she came out on top. And it's an amazing, interesting and surprising behind the scenes look of how everything really went down (and came back up).
As a fan it took me back down memory lane and it was so fun!

So well written!
I loved this book and it would not have been the same without Mariah narrating her story in her own words. Love when she sings some of the lyrics. So great to know the inspiration and meaning behind so many of our favourite songs. I was a Lamb for life but even more so now! She is so honest, speaks her truth and comes across so relatable for such a megastar
Love you Mariah and thanks for the gift of the book! How funny that I finished the book on Christmas Day and she’s the queen of Christmas haha!

loved it!!
I grew up listening to all the music she talked about!! I often wondered where she got her inspiration and it was a shock to learn about what she had went through. I can't wait to go through the music again with all of this depth to her lyrics to guide me through now! I loved that she narrated and sang through it. She truly has the most beautiful voice!! I recommend this book to anyone who loved her music growing up.
