Excellent basebuilding

It has it all military aspect of an apocalyptic future, relationships exploration, base building, kingdom building, and more can't wait for the next book.

overly pretentious

interesting premise, poor execution. The dialog sucks. It feels like it was written by someone who's never had a real conversation before. The back and forth by the two main characters is so cardboard and pretentious, it's like it was written for a school project to impress a stuck up professor. I mean, who talks like that?!
