An excellent litrpg story

I really appreciate the balance in between having an over powered protagonist while still having an interesting story where it doesn't just involve leveling up to beet progressively bigger bad guys.

One of my favourite litRPGs

You’ll never lose interest in the story. There is always something new and exciting going on. It’s a bit like when you’re playing a video game and you open up a new area and get to exploring that environment. That happens quite a bit so it’s never dull and the world keeps expanding. My only criticism with these books is the writing here and there. Some phrases are repetitive and there are instances of the language just being plain wrong. Ex: “tens of boulders shot out of the…”. “Tens of” is used frequently when it should be “dozens of”. Another: “Currently Zack was feeling anxious right now”. It does seem the language improves with each book, the first book containing the most errors. If I’m honest I nearly stopped listening to it because the language mistakes sometimes took me out of the story. That said, I’m very glad I continued with the book and the rest of the series. Really interesting characters and settings and amazing adventures set in a unique world. I’d say if you liked Dungeon Crawler Carl you’d like this one as well. Definitely recommend this series and am impatient for more!

I absolutely love this series. The MC has his issues but also his strengths. The comedy is present bur not too in your face. I can easily say that this is my favorite LITRPG series atm. Alway looking forward to the next installment.

great read

as always the performance and plot are fantastic. the only thing keeping me from giving this book a perfect score is the lack⁹ of character growth in the main character. I'm not talking about the status sheet ab strength, but his intelligence and wisdom have increased by something like 600% each....so why is he still a dullard?

“Zac snorted” I want this on a T-Shirt

One of the most annoying things about this series is an insufferable main character who is literally the richest man in the entire world, yet constantly looks down on people hard-scrabbling to build and capture wealth for themselves. So when people make decisions that will benefit themselves as well as help out, Zac invariable snorts a reply.

Also the lazy overuse of words. Repetitive use of words and phrases gets irritating. Repetitive interactions between Zac and whoever he is snorting at get tiring. On one hand Zac says people need to work and earn what they want, so when they try Zac does the Zac thing. I was fine with it book one, but 4 books in…come on.

Book lacks round characters, main characters often have irritating voices like the too “sultry” and “Pouty” sounding Ogras, or many female characters sounding snotty, petulant or sullen. None of the voices actually make anyone sound good or appealing. Most of the book is narration vs first person interactions so internal dialogue ends up sounding a bit paint by numbers and like reading a cereal box. I don’t know how to explain it other than no one changes other than their Aura or Stats. In book 3 Zac honestly calls Emily, the girl he basically adopted (but didn’t) a mascot. A what? This could have been a small meaningful moment between Zac and another character and…he calls her a mascot. Zac could have said little sister, I mean, they live in the same house after all. But nope, she is a teenage mascot.

I don’t understand the writing often. The repetitive choices and lack of development of character traits other than stats sucks the life out of the books. They are starting to feel like a grind like level 75 is…

Getting long in the tooth

Personally, I could barely finish this book. It's the same old story, there's no new characters, and Zac is so OP it's predictable. I feel the main plot is not very interesting. There should be something new to hold your attention, but it's the same thing over and over again. I won't be continuing the series

It's like someone showing you a TV program that kicked off a genre 10 years ago. It could be great if it's your first go at the genre but if you're already familiar it's just an ok version of what it is, the writing is ok, the characters are ok, the progression is ok. It won't make you laugh aloud, tear up, catch you skipping ahead because you're dying to find out what happens. But, it's not so bad that you find yourself constantly annoyed with characters doing stupid nonsense.

If you like the genre it's a pretty safe bet, otherwise it's fairly underwhelming.
