Publisher's Summary

“From here on out here’s how it’s going to go. I play. You play. Don’t hit on me. Don’t flirt with me. Understood?"

Handsome, charismatic, and blessed with a voice that brings thousands of fans to their knees, Trent Donovan is a walking cliché. But he has another thing coming if he thinks he can charm his way into my panties.

I don’t care if he’s rich and famous because I’m not here to bag a rock star. I’m here to pave my own way. To prove I belong center stage.

There’s just one problem.

The more time I spend on the road with the band, the more I realize Trent’s nothing like the arrogant playboy I expected. We share a love of music, and if I’m honest so much more.

I came on this tour to follow my dreams, but if I’m not careful he’s bound to lead them off track - right along with my heart.

The books in the Off Track Records series are interconnected stand-alone romance novels, and can be listened to in any order.

Awesome! Clarke and Lamb are perfection! 🔥

Rockstar romances are one of my favorite tropes, especially when done right and Kacey Shea has worked her magic with DETOUR. Trent and Lexie’s story is the perfect blend of drama, angst, and all things delicious, unputdownable romance! Kacey Shea effortlessly weaves passion, plenty of feels, and gives us a hero to drool over and a couple to root for!

Narration was performed by Jason Clarke and Lessa Lamb. I was new to Lessa Lamb, but I thoroughly enjoyed her heartfelt and emotional performance. Jason Clarke brought Trent to life perfectly and honestly, I could just listen to that man speak for days! 5 stars.

LOVE!

Who doesn't love a Rock n' Roll love story! The story of Lexi and Trent was so good. The story has enough of a slow burn between these characters that you feel their connection.
In the beginning, Trent the hero is a manwhore of epic proportions but he has no commitments so hey what do you expect. Lexi, the heroine has had a rough life and upbringing with a famous rocker for a dad and groupie mom. She has her reasons to keep love at a distance and focus on making it big with her music. I loved Lexi so much. The side characters were so much a part of the story that you want more of their stories as well especially Sean! The bus antics were hilarious and made me laugh out loud.
Jason Clarke did such an amazing job as always! Lessa Lamb, wow she is so in my top 5 female narrator list! Something about her voice and ability to sing that has me all girl crushing on her. The sass she brings out in her characters is everything.

Kacey Shea, well done! I have been a fan of hers since her Caught series and this one did not disappoint. Highly recommend.

Singing this book’s praises!

I can’t love this book enough! I enjoyed every single second of Detour! The story of Lexi and Trent is so beautiful and I enjoyed their journey so very much! I laughed and cried and just overall fell in love with the story and characters. This is definitely a book I will be coming back to more than once.

The narration of Jason Clarke and Lessa Lamb deserves all the praise as well. They both fit the characters perfectly. Jason as Trent did a remarkable job as always and Lessa is the perfect Lexi with her smooth raspy voice.

I highly recommend this book and know anyone will enjoy it as much as I have. ❤️

I’m with the band...

What an excellent beginning to a new series!! What’s not to love about a story with a band, great dialogue, and a sassy female lead?!? I am so excited for more stories from this group. Excellent performance!

Amazing

This was a great story! Quite enjoyable to listen to them find their rhythm as a couple.

Narrators Jason Clarke and Lessa Lamb were the perfect voice choices for this rock star series!!

His is deep and gravelly but smooth at the same time.

Lessa has a sweet tone and a gravelly tone and is able to swap back and forth as needed. She can sing with a gorgeous melody!

I can’t recommend this enough ❤️

🎧 Lexi and Trent 🎧

Distinctly average story about an aspiring singer, and an established rockstar. Great potential for a different take on a much-loved trope, but it just didn't live up to it.
Jason Clarke was the best thing about it for me. His gravelly tones suited the character, and his female voice is great too.
Lessa Lamb was a new-to-me narrator but I wasn't taken with her style. Too much emphasis on individual words broke up the flow of the narrative.
If I'd gotten this through Audible Escape it would have been a DNF, but I used a credit because I'd heard great things about Lessa Lamb and Kacey Shea. Unfortunately not a hit for me.

tourmates to lovers

*ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review*

I previously read Kacey Shea's Caught In The Flames so I was very excited to be given the chance to read Detour. When I read the Synapsys of the book I was a little bit apprehensive as it sounded like several other Rock Star book that read or listed to before. However, Kacey put my hesitations to rest in the first 5 minutes of the book...her humor and wit sucked me in and I found myself not wanting to stop listening to know what happened next. I loved that she went with a dual narration as it was perfect way to bring Lex and Trent to life. I felt like I was living along side these characters as they told their points of view in the story.

Lex is a up and coming singer/songwriter who has been invited to tour with the Rock Band "3 Ugly Guys". She has a wall of steal put up to protect herself from years of sexism and past traumas from growing up in the music industry under a famous father. Trent is the lead singer uses his whitty humor to try and break down her walls. These two have to learn to work together and their professional goals of music carriers. Can they have both and move past past traumas and also fall in love in the process?

This is the first book in the Off Track Record Series.

Nothing better than a reformed bad boy............

Detour is the first book in a new series featuring a highly successful rock band called 3 Ugly Guys. I am not normally a fan of the rock star theme because the men are usually irredeemable man whores. I love anything that Kacey Shea writes, so I decided to give this a try. For those that share my opinion, you will need to be patient because the main character, Trent, is right up there with the worst egotistical sex addicts for the first part of Detour. However, this just makes his transformation into boyfriend material all the more special. When he meets Lexi, the singer opening for the band's shows and traveling with the band on it's tour bus, he pulls his usual stunts, but she shuts him down cold. Watching Trent flounder with a woman that doesn't instantly melt at his charms is so much fun.

Unlike Trent, I loved Lexi from the very beginning of the book. She is spunky, strong and fiercely independent. As the book proceeds, we learn more about her tragic childhood and how it profoundly effected her character and goals. So many times during the book, I just wanted to reach out and hug her. Luckily, Trent finally listens to his heart instead of the Mr. Trent in his pants, and he becomes an amazing support and lover for Lexi. With her usual skill, Shea combines the perfect amount of push/pull between Trent and Lexi with lots of chemistry and passion as well. Thankfully, as sad as I frequently felt for Lexi, I also spent a large part of the book laughing at the antics between Lexi and her fellow bus mates. Her revenge for some of their stunts is priceless. I think any fan of the romance genre would enjoy this equally delightful and moving love story, and I can't wait to see what Shea has in store for the next book in the series.

The narration by Jason Clarke and Lessa Lamb is incredible. Their skillful performance took an already passionate story and made it absolutely divine. Their delivery matched all of the personalities and the moods of the book perfectly, and they both have amazingly smooth and sensual voices. The team of Shea, Clarke and Lamb is a most impressive one, and I want to see more of their magic in the future.

You’re going to love this rockstar story!

Lexi is an up-and-coming musician, who is getting gigs on her own merit by distancing herself from her famous rockstar father. In fact, her parentage is a well guarded secret. Lexi is thrilled when she is invited to open for the hugely successful rock band, Three Ugly Guys, on their upcoming tour. Life is about to get interesting. Trent is the lead singer of the band, and is a manwh*re. He isn’t thrilled about having a ‘girl’ open for them but the record label is insistent. Then he meets the sexy Lexi and figures that life will be good. Except, Lexi is off limit...and she appears to be indifferent about him anyway. This tour should be great! Can Trent wear down Lexi’s resolve and start something or will her emotional baggage be too much to overcome?
This book elicits all the feels...you will laugh, cry, be angry and cheering for this couple. A great piece of literary work. Even if you’re not a fan of this genre, give it a try...this book just may change your mind. The narration team does an excellent job portraying the characters and immerses you in the book and rockstar culture.
I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
