Publisher's Summary

Running and hiding is looked upon as a way out for the weak. It is something Omar never thought he would do. As a child, he didn't even play hide-and-seek for that very reason. Unfortunately, after being sentenced to death by his cousin, Demarcus, Omar was left with no choice.

Moving to Detroit wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. It didn't take long for him to reign supreme. The change of location didn't change his conniving and coldhearted ways, however. And it didn't take the locals long to see him for the monster he was. When his lies caught up to him and backed him into the corner, he opted to take the easy way out and leave.

After being off the radar for three years, Omar was now willing to play the game. And he wanted it to end in his cousin's murder and his reclaiming the throne he was kicked down from. But how many people would he be willing to kill to get back what he felt was rightfully his?

Demarcus' life has turned for the better. He has a relationship with his newfound father, runs a large distribution ring for heroin - called dog food - and has a few legit businesses flourishing on the side. The sheltered mama's boy has turned into a man. But suddenly the bodies start piling up and Demarcus goes from being the most loved man in the city of Memphis to being the number one suspect in every case that crosses the homicide unit's desk.

Demarcus' past is back to haunt him with a vengeance. But what happens when the true murderer is someone he already knows to be dead?

Great Ending

The sequel was just as good as the first book. I loved the ending to the book but the narrator is really bad. Kim Johnson should not be able to narrate anything else. I would not listen to anything else she narrates

Struggle to Finish

The story wasn’t too bad. The narrator was awful. They should’ve let Nicole Small narrate this one.

Why Fix what's not broken

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Yes if the narrator had not been changed. I really enjoyed the 1st book.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not sure but it will not be anything read by Kim Johnson. I have returned all books I got read by her.

What didn’t you like about Kim Johnson’s performance?

She's boring and makes it really hard to stay interested even if it is a good book. You can't go from Nicole Small whom I love to K. Johnson.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointed I couldn't get past the first chapter.

Any additional comments?

Please have Nicole Small redo this one. I would love to finish the story.

narrator was horrible

Its impossible to get into a street book work 90% of male characters using a soft voice female.. doesn’t make any sense. The read was boring. I literally skip through it just to see if at some point it would get better or catch my attention. Unfortunately NOT

Narrator was straight trash

If I hadn’t read the first one cities book there’s no way I would’ve made it through the second one you cannot use a near raider like Nicole Smart and then find a horrible narrator omg she needs to just stop reading anything, The story was amazing however the narrator was just the worst of the worst

I enjoyed “1”

This was kind of a let down, the first one was great, this one has allot of unnecessary, dialogue, like Omar’ s vague drug habit, why bring that into play, it didn’t evolve, and what he did to “Unique “ there second encounter……Why????? I did like the happy ending
