Don't Stop Me: Vic

I enjoyed this book very much and was glad that Vic was able to find love. I listened to the second book first but that was fine. Jaclynn Michelle Elfring did a very good job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Her Anger Was Over the Top

This book bothered me. I am not saying that it wasn't interesting or that it did not hold my attention. It actually was interesting and did hold my attention. It addressed some situations that occur, even in our current environment.

The thing that really continued to hang over my head was how angry Fiona/Badra was at Vic. It made no sense to me. She knew what he was while she was with him. I understood that the circumstances caused her life to change forever, but Vic did not hold the responsibility for that, the authorities did. Her anger was obvious and overwhelming to the point it kept throwing me off. I figured that I had missed some major detail that would explain why she was so angry.

As the story played out, I was even more confused about her anger. Vic was not responsible for the way other people treated her. I will admit that I completely understood her fear, and what it's like to carry that with you on a daily basis. I felt that what she did about John was more for herself than to protect him. To hold onto that amount of anger for 14 years must have been exhausting.

This story tied up all of the loss ends very quickly. I won't say neatly, because the reporter fell off the face of the earth. There were people introduced out of the blue. There were questions that went unanswered for years, and no one ever thought to ask them. There was the information Vic found out, presented to Fiona, and she was cool. No questions.

Let's not forget Fiona's fairly easy acceptance of Vic back in her life. I felt like she made some feeble protests AFTER she discovered part of Vic's life. Before that, she was ready to attack at every turn. Then, there was the HEA. Fast and easy acceptance.

The book was ok, but I still feel like I was missing something, and there were still unanswered questions. The narration was ok. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it had been dual.

Second Chance

I liked this contemporary romance. It had elements of deception, undying love, secret child, never giving up. I like the characters of Vic, Fiona and John.

The narrator, Jacylinn Michelle Elkridge voiced the characters well.

I loved this story

I loved this story. The injustice of everyday life brought to just common people like you. And how institutions we trust in, can jump into conclusions and overreact changing a nobody's life forever without anyone knowing or caring about. All in the name of the greater welfare cause. It's thought-provoking. The only thing is... why does it end up so abruptly? The last 4 chapters which concludes the story might have needed at least twice the time to develop. I just wasn't ready to leave Vic and Fiona yet.

Amazing story

Lorhainne does it again. Wonderful story with strong characters. I love Vic and his commitment to help those he loves. In the time after 9-11 many untold prejudices and harm came to innocent people and this story handles is type of situation in a thoughtful and meaningful way.
