À propos de cet audio

The apocalypse will be televised!

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible.

In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground.

The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot. A dungeon so enormous, it circles the entire globe.

Only a few dare venture inside. But once you're in, you can't get out. And what's worse, each level has a time limit. You have but days to find a staircase to the next level down, or it's game over. In this game, it's not about your strength or your dexterity. It's about your followers, your views. Your clout. It's about building an audience and killing those goblins with style.

You can't just survive here. You gotta survive big.

You gotta fight with vigor, with excitement. You gotta make them stand up and cheer. And if you do have that "it" factor, you may just find yourself with a following. That's the only way to truly survive in this game - with the help of the loot boxes dropped upon you by the generous benefactors watching from across the galaxy.

They call it Dungeon Crawler World. But for Carl, it's anything but a game.

I love the book so if you're reading the reviews to get an idea on if you should buy it then let me explain the Mc, Carl

He's a nobody. Completely ordinary guy like someone you'd walk by on the street and not think twice about. But he's also a Hero.

In this universe, life is cheap(literally) and death is so abundant that genocide of entire planets isn't a warcrime but entertainment in the form of dungeon crawls. It's in this dungeon that the crawlers, the few million that survived the initial culling, are forced to kill or be killed, eventually numbing them to life just like everyone else.

In this universe that utterly breaks a person's morals and empathy, that shatters any sense of compassion, Carl is just a normal guy. But it's this world that molds him into a Hero for the simple fact that he chooses to care.

They took everything from him but one thing they'll never do to him is break him. Instead, he'll break them.

Great MC

First thing's first. Jeff Hayes is one of the best narrators out there. He perfectly captures characters just by his tone alone. He has an amazing ability to adapt his tone/depth/pace/pronunciation to every unique character. If I'm being honest, this audiobook wouldn't have done well without him. Don't take the aforementioned point as a dig against the author, but rather, that this narrator brings so much life to the writing that this audiobook can be considered a creative art piece brought together by two artists (the author and the narrator). Quite simply, the writer pitches him good material and then Hayes knocks it out of the park.

The author is good. He creates characters that are very unique. Even in his follow-on books, he does a (really) good job creating unique and interesting characters even if they are only around for a small period of time in the narrative. He doesn't spend a long time on descriptive writing for his combat scenes which is something that I'm fine with (happy about, even) so keep that in mind when listening to the audiobook; You'll be quickly imagining the combat scenes with not much descriptive material to go with. On the other hand, he has very good descriptive writing for the parts that matter more in context of the storyline. Most importantly, there were several times where I "Laughed Out Loud" in the literal sense. I'm generally not an excitable person, so if it got me, than I'm sure that it'll get you. The humor here was fantastic.

I listened to the series back-to-back and am eager to listen see where the series goes.

The only drawback about this whole series is that it isn't as well advertised as it should be. Audible.com should be pushing this in it's advertising. I only heard about it by word-of-mouth on another platform. I don't care about LitRPG books, so I assume that's one of the reasons this book wasn't pushed to my "recommended" feed. That said, this book is so good that it would actually get people into the audiobook genre of media.

Didnt know what to expect going in. The cover didn't really speak to me and the concept of space aliens meets dungeons and dragons seemed a little tacky. Rarely have I been so glad to be so wrong. I have currently listened to the series up until book four and have enjoyed every minute of it. The comedy and creativity kept me interested book after book. A nice collaboration
between Matt Dinniman and soundbooth theater. Can't wait for the next one.

Didn't know what to expect.

I love dungeon crawlers. I knew after learning about this book that it'd be right up my alley. Carl & Donut are great characters and funny as hell.

This is an easy recommendation. Into the favourite pile with ya!

So Damn Fun

this narrator is a top notch narrator. I was so impress with him having so many distinct voices that are overly dramatic and cartoonish, but it fits so well to this story. I will have to listen his other performance just to hear what other character type sounds like.

the story is solid, but lacked tension in most places(boss fight excluded). I guess it's appropriate for a litRPG, especially the first book.

MC might be bit vanilla good guy, but Princess Donut definitely makes up for it.

10 out 10 definite re-listen and will buy more from this series.

who's this narrator?

This audiobook really raises the bar for voice acting, doesn't it? How are we meant to go back to regular performances after this?

Oh right...um something something the story is great too.
