Don’t miss the eagerly anticipated epic new fantasy from Christopher Paolini—Murtagh, coming 11.7.23!
A new adventure hatches in Book One of the Inheritance Cycle, perfect for fans of Lord of the Rings! This New York Times bestselling series has sold over 40 million copies and is an international fantasy sensation.
"Christopher Paolini is a true rarity."—The Washington Post
When fifteen-year-old Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.
Overnight his simple life is shattered, and, gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save—or destroy—the Empire.
What the critics say
"It's an impressive start to a writing career that's sure to flourish." (Booklist)
"Doyle's range of accents is perfect for the multiple characters of this epic....On paper Eragon is a sprawling fantasy, filled with obvious nods to Tolkien and too many convenient plot devices. But on audio, it fills the ears with vivid characters, witty dialogue, and nail-biting battle scenes set in a magical world where a beautiful blue dragon and her rider are at the noble center of it all." (AudioFile)
"An impressive epic fantasy." (Publishers Weekly)

good story, unique reading.
it was a struggle to get into the reading style, but doable and enjoyable once you do, however I freakin hate saphiras voice and almost quit multiple times because of it. It never gets better and ruins a huge part of the story.

A wonderful story
The story of all the books put together is one of the few at this length that kept my interest the entire time.
To all the people that have issues with the voice actors choice on how to play the dragon.
How do you know what dragons sound like? Cuz i quite enjoyed the voice of these books.

Wasn't a Fan of Saphiras voice
fantastic story/storytelling, but for how often I listen to Gerard speak as Saphira, it's just a bit raspy and not great listening to it. But... tolerable for the sake of the story.

Saphira’s voice?
The book is amazing but why the hell does Saphira’s voice sound like the cookie monster?? No at all how I imagined it!

AMAZING book and series
I definitely recommend this book because it’s filled with fantasy excitement and drama and it is a very good book for the older people and younger and I had a lot of fun reading it and listening to the audiobook and I feel like the reader did very well. I have no dislikes and I’m definitely gonna read the second one the eldest I’m pretty sure that’s what the books called so yeah I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy books or Harry Potter cause I feel like it’s very similar to that.

Engaging Read
Christopher Paolini's entry into the Inheritance series is a bright reminder of a favourite read of my youth. The detail is wonderful, and easy to watch the progressive personal growth of Eragon throughout this book --- and a stark difference between this first book and the last book of the series (when rereading).
