Publisher's Summary

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Vince Flynn - “the best pure adrenaline-charged action writer out there today” (The Providence Journal) - puts Mitch Rapp in the crossfire as America’s enemies tighten their grip.

Returning from a covert mission, Mitch Rapp was publicly hailed by the president for his role in the fight against terrorism. After years of working in the shadows, Rapp was caught in the media spotlight - and marked for death by virtually every terrorist in the world. Now a CIA advisor, Rapp is ready to battle terror far from the front lines.

But when a Navy SEAL team in the Philippines is ambushed, all evidence points to a leak within the U.S. State Department. And a greater threat lurks - a ruthless assassin working for the most powerful men in the Middle East, who are bent on igniting a world war. With the world watching, Rapp must hold back the flames of Armageddon....

A great wow!

Great stories (more than one here), good character development, unexpected twists, and I - a Navy veteran - was reading this during the time Ben Laden was found. A description in the book must have been right on for how the Navy Seal team exited the helicopters during the raid on Bin Laden's compound. Will I read more of this author? Yep, and did I say the reader could read the newspaper backwards and would be worth listening to?

Fast paced thriller(s)

This is one of Vince Flynn's earlier works and makes the reader remember that Flynn wasn't always obsessed with torture and knew how to tell a story without an overly obvious political message. Actually, Executive Power is two stories in one book. Maybe someone found the link between the two stories but I didn't. But both are good on their own and both have Mitch Rapp as the hero. CIA Diector Irene Kennedy plays a stronger role in this book and Mitch gets married. Anna, his new wife, is tougher than all the bad guys put together. Well worth your credit and your time.

narration is good, like Athena Ayres

What did you love best about Executive Power?

good story, good narration. My favorite Narrator is Athena Ayres. George is right up there too. Good stuff! I like this series but wish they had kept a consistent Narrator. I have skipped a couple entirely due to this..

Story and narrator rock!

What made the experience of listening to Executive Power the most enjoyable?

Couple Vince Flynn's exciting story and with George Guidall narrating and you have a hit!

What other book might you compare Executive Power to and why?

This is the first Mitch Rapp story so I have nothing to compare it to, however, I will purchase others!!!

Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

YES! I have read Craig Johnson's Walt Longmire series. George Guidall is always superb and never ever disappointing!!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Do assassins ever retire?

Any additional comments?

A must read!

the world of international intrigue

I have really enjoyed reading this book. It makes you realize how much political considerations influence the life and death situations that our country faces every day. Mr, Fynn seems to have a firm grip on reality even though our super hero Mitch Rapp is a little too much like superman, he is believable. I don't think the left wing radicals are too happy with the way the deomcrats are treated in this book, but I loved it.

Awesome Book!!

Mitch Rapp is arguably one of the most riveting characters and Vince Flynn continues to do an amazing job with him. George Guidall is so awesome as the narrator that I don't think I can listen to a Mitch Rapp book that he does not narrate--he's that good!!

The first Mitch Rapp book written after 9/11/2001

Executive Power is Book 6 in the Mitch Rapp series but is Book 4 in the order the series was written and released. It was released during May 2003. This is the third time I listened to the audiobook after reading the hardcover when it was released released. (The audiobook was released in 2011.)m In Executive Power we see a fully confident Mitch Rapp dealing somewhat ineffectively with his journalist wife who he recently married. Rapp and Irene Kennedy, his CIA boss, come to realize that Anna Rielly requires that she know more about what her husband is doing. After being outed to the public by a US congressman as a CIA assassin at the end of Separation of Power, Rapp has a real desk job at CIA. He has issues adapting to his desk job and leaving the field work to others. He uses his new ability to influence the US president very effectively.

Like all of Vince Flynn's novels Executive Power is complex with several things, sometimes seemingly unrelated, happening at the same time. This adds to the realism.

Executive Power is also the first Rapp series audiobook in order written which was narrated by George Guidall. Fortunately Guidall narrates all of the more recent audiobooks in the Mitch Rapp series.
