Story
The human soldiers stranded on the planet Paradise have been recruited into an alien legion to do the dirty jobs that the high-tech species won't do. Their first mission is to kick the enemy off a backwater planet no one cares about. It's a simple assignment, except everyone has a hidden agenda, and the planet could become a deathtrap.

Story
For years, the ancient alien AI known as Skippy (the Magnificent, don’t forget that part) has been able to do one impossible thing after another. What is his secret? It’s simple: 100 percent grade-a extreme awesomeness. And also because he had never been faced with an opponent of equal power. Until now. This time, he might need a little help from a band of filthy monkeys.

After the Renegade mission by the crew of the starship Flying Dutchman, the UN Expeditionary Force thought Earth was safe for hundreds of years, at least. So, the Flying Dutchman is sent out on a simple recon mission. But for the pirates, nothing is ever simple, and their mission will become Armageddon.

United Nations Special Operations Command sent an elite expeditionary force of soldiers and pilots out on a simple recon mission, and somehow along the way they sparked an alien civil war. Now the not-at-all-merry band of pirates is in desperate trouble, again. Their stolen alien starship is falling apart, thousands of light years from home. The ancient alien AI they nicknamed Skippy is apparently dead, and even if they can by some miracle revive him, he might never be the same.

The mission is simple. Escort an emissary to an intergalactic peace summit. Try not to get in the way. Lt. Magnus and his 79th Recon Team have certainly handled worse, after all. But when an explosion rocks the tower and sends everyone into a panic, Magnus and his asset find themselves cut off from the rest of the team. Worse still, a dying alien chieftain gives them a priceless drive of intel, marking them for death. The mission has officially changed. Story
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

Great naration, in search of a story.
I love the main series, but this was very disappointing. It has all the charm of listening to a natation of someone playing a video game. Way too much blah blah blah. Humans are surprisingly clever, blah blah blah.
I know that monkeys love bananas, but this feels like a desperate lunge for a big bunch.

So much fun
This was exactly the thing I needed. Exforce is great, but a break in between the story was needed. This one ticked all the boxes, very much the most exciting and interesting Mavericks story to date. It had me hooked, listening to it with bated breath at some points and had me audibly saying "yes!" at others, getting me out of my chair and pacing as the story unfolded. A wild ride all around, and one of the most exciting Exforce books yet. Listen to this at the appropriate time, check out the chronological order online, you will not be disappointed. Excellent listen, 11/10 fantastic.

One big long battle
If you like constant action you'll enjoy this book. I only listened since its necessary for reading the main story, the book i'm at directly relates to events and characters from this novel. Its alright, definitely has low points that drag on. You can skip much of the book if you're only interested in the story, which amounts to maybe 30% of the book.
RC Bray kills it, as always.

PLEASE MORE of these and less of the others!!
Don't get me wrong I really enjoy the Expeditionary Force series but I just feel like those are just going too far. Everytime they are about to solve a problem BOOM another one comes up. It just feels like Craig is dragging that series along. This new series on the other hand is fresh and so much more fun. I love the new characters and also how the Mavericks are working with the other species rather than against them. If you have not started this series I would highly recomend it!!!

These books are getting repetitive, this book is basically the same as Mavricks book 1, with different banter. I'm a fan of the skippyverse but the next book better get on with the story with something new, the wash, rinse, & repeat is getting old.

2-3 Chapters Stretched Into a Book
While I've enjoyed the books from Expeditionary Force, the stories have been getting less and less substance with each new book and this latest by Alanson was by far the worst offender yet. I actually grew bored partway through and had to take a break from the monotony. This whole story could've been condensed into a couple of chapters without any significant loss of plot, character growth, or quality. Instead, the reader/listener must ensure extraneous conversations, unnecessary drama, and a barrage of side action that do nothing more than pad the length of the novel. Just overall disappointed with this one.
As always, R.C. Bray does a fantastic job with his performance.

I have been entertained by the "Mavericks" offshoot of Expeditionary Force. Pretty ok story with some great characters but a sidebar to the main story line. This book changed that for me.
