À propos de cet audio

No light. No air. No escape.

Hundreds of feet beneath the ocean's surface, a graveyard waits. Years ago, the SS Arcadia vanished without a trace during a routine voyage. Though a strange, garbled emergency message was broadcast, neither the ship nor any of its crew could be found. Sixty years later, its wreck has finally been discovered more than three hundred miles from its intended course: a silent graveyard deep beneath the ocean's surface, eagerly waiting for the first sign of life.

Cove and her dive team have been granted permission to explore the Arcadia's rusting hull. Their purpose is straightforward: examine the wreck, film everything, and, if possible, uncover how and why the supposedly unsinkable ship vanished. But the Arcadia has not yet had its fill of death, and something dark and hungry watches from below. With limited oxygen and the ship slowly closing in around them, Cove and her team will have to fight their way free of the unspeakable horror now desperate to claim them.

Atmospheric. Not very scary. I probably would have enjoyed reading this much more than the audiobook.

Not bad

Writing wise, the atmosphere and characters were wonderfully done. I found the whole cast super engaging and even when characters did something dumb (it’s horror), it never threw me out of it because their actions were so inline with their characterization and personal motives.

I really enjoyed the narrator as well. She perfectly suited the story, and gave consistent voices to the dialogue without being over the top or distracting about it.

My only issue was with the sound editing. Parts had the volume of the narration inconsistent and wobbly, but it was minor and I likely wouldn’t have noticed had I not had headphones in.

Great atmosphere and characters!

I absolutely loved this listen!!!! Such an original and engrossing spooky mystery! I almost gave up though as the narrators pacing and tone were headache inducing although the actual performance was great. I increased the speed to 1.05x and that made it so much better.

Excellent listen if you can get past the narrator!

It was a fun book overall but my main take aways:

Nothing BAD actually happens to any of the characters. Is this horror?

Narration is....iffy. Whoever thought it Hesty's lines are delivered in an almost inaudible whisper, at one point it felt like the narrator gave up trying to differentiate voices for female POVs and they start to blend together.

You can't hear the clicking of bones in a body 300ft underwater through a wet suit. Wouldn't mention this if it wasn't said like 5000 times over the course of the book.

Cove(sp) got eye implants for a different eye colour instead of just using coloured contacts so its a detail about the characters past that simply makes no sense. She got an expensive eye surgery for TV? What?

Overall it was OK when it wasn't being extra strength stupid. The failings of the narration are largely ignorable but I question who thought actually having the narrator whisper (quite a bit) was a good creative choice.

Meh
