À propos de cet audio

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Literature, Margaret Mitchell's great novel of the South is one of the most popular books ever written. Within six months of its publication in 1936, Gone With the Wind had sold a million copies. To date, it has been translated into 25 languages, and more than 28 million copies have been sold.

Here are the characters that have become symbols of passion and desire: darkly handsome Rhett Butler and flirtatious Scarlett O'Hara. Behind them stand their gentler counterparts: Ashley Wilkes and Melanie Hamilton. As the lives and affairs of these absorbing characters play out against the tumult of the Civil War, Gone With the Wind reaches dramatic heights that have swept generations of fans off their feet.

Having lived in Atlanta for many years, narrator Linda Stephens has an authentic ear for the dialects of that region. Get ready to hear Gone With the Wind exactly as it was written: every word beautifully captured in a spectacular unabridged audio production.

This tome is exceptional, but the listener must remember it was written in a different time, the racially charged language and situations are shocking if you’ve never read this book or watched the movie/
A classic that, for its time, is timeless.

FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE! Linda Stephens makes sure you know who is speaking with her take on their voices, and it really makes this book fantastic.
I loved this story, but I'm not sure that I would have loved it as much without Linda dictating it.

I started reading the physical copy of Gone with the Wind and loved the book but I started moving around a lot for school and it’s a big book to have in my bag when I’m going back home for just a weekend, so I decided to do the audio book so I’d have less to carry and this was perfect! It is such an amazing story and preformed so well! Highly recommend!

Right off the hop I will say obviously the book is super racist and does nothing to support women's rights; the time it was written and the subject it was written about, you have to know that is not pro black lives matter, or a feminist uplifting story. I was horrified to listen to it on speaker or in the car due to the vulgar language, however, the insight to that time period and the struggles that people went through blows my mind. As a black lives matter supporter, it just brings the injustice that has been faced for so many years to light, and in some cases, how not much has really changed in people's attitude towards race. Nothing about that time was handled well at all. Consider this before you listen.

The narrator did an awesome job. I liked listening to her. The accents weren't over the top. It was any easy 49 hours of listening.

The writer peaked my interest. It is so easy to get annoyed with Scarlett's stupidity, but at the same time cheer her on because she just got stuff done. It may have been selfishly motivated, but it was such a good story you just had to find out what happened next. I laughed out loud at the interactions between Rhett and Scarlett. They are by far my favourite couple. Melanie is such a strong character. I have so much more respect for her after listening to the story vs watching the movie.

I had previously watched the movie first, which was alright as a quick snippet into the time period with endless hate for Scarlett, but in comparison, the full story has so much understanding, so much content, so much more intense. It keeps you coming back for more even after yelling out at Scarlett for being such a selfish jerk. I'm glad I listened. It was worth it. So many emotions.

A Great Listen
