Publisher's Summary
The internationally best-selling author of Goodbye, Things shares insights and practices to help us embrace habits and become the best versions of ourselves.
Fumio Sasaki changed his life when he became a minimalist. But before minimalism could really stick, he had to make it a habit. All of us live our lives based on the habits we’ve formed, from when we get up in the morning to what we eat and drink to how likely we are to actually make it to the gym. In Hello, Habits, Sasaki explains how we can acquire the new habits that we want - and get rid of the ones that don’t do us any good.
Drawing on leading theories and tips about the science of habit formation from cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and sociology, along with examples from popular culture and tried-and-tested techniques from his own life, he unravels common misperceptions about “willpower” and “talent”, and offers a step-by-step guide to success. Ultimately, Sasaki shows how ordinary people like himself can use his principles of good habit-making to improve themselves and change their lives.

Loved it
I loved this book. Saski was dealing with habits and addictions and his approach was innovative. It was easy to listen to and put his ideas into practice in your own life. Well written and well narrated, I'd say this book was a winner.

One of the best Habit books
I rarely finish audio books which I have purchased and end up returning most of them, so much so I was blacklisted by Audible.com at one stage. However, with "Hello Habits", not only did I finish listening, I'd actually re-listened. Fumio Sasaki made habit building so simple and enticing, breaking it down into encouraging steps and made me eager to get on the habit building wagon.

Another Brilliant Work
If you haven't read Sasaki-san's first work "Goodbye, Things" you must it is life changing. This new work builds on the successes he found in minimalism. However, you do not have to be a minimalist to find value in this book. Similarly to how a budget give you freedom with money, good habits brings you happiness and freedom in your life. Highly recommend.

Habit forming
Though similar, it is very different from his previous book. Habits, good or bad, take time to form, but they will happen. The question is whether you want them to stick or not. This book provides examples, doesn’t get overly science”y”, and doesn’t preach. Enjoyable read.

Good book on habits.
Good book on habits. There are other more comprehensive books out there, but this was a short and good presentation.

Change is Possible
I've listened to this book on repeat this entire week so I could absorb how to build new habits and break bad habits. It made be feel change is possible once I started to understand my own motivations and tendencies I had. Thank you Fumio for sharing your story so openly.
I also listed to Goodbye Things before this on repeat and it's only been two weeks since Ive listened to both audio books and it's made me challenged my ways for the better!
And this is from someone who does struggle with depression and anxiety.
Blessings

Hello Habits by Fumo Sasaki
I like this book because of the content which relates to anyone. I stared using some of the things he suggests like a power nap, which is refreshing. It worked for me. I also like his writing style. The narrator did good too. I give the book 5 stars overall. Thank you for this book, Fumio Sasaki.

Don’t waste you’re time
I have an affinity for self-help books. Well, I just finished Hello, Habits, A minimalists guide to a Better Life. By Fumio Sasaki as an audio book and I can honestly say “Don’t waste your time”. When I try to rationalize why I didn’t like it, it seems vague and as intangible as grasping at smoke. I want to say, ‘he put too much of his own opinions and experiences into it’, but that’s not truely why I disliked the book. I’ve read lots of books by others that have personal examples, yet I liked more. Perhaps, I suppose that, when I read the title, I created the expectation that the habits Fumio would elude to, would help me, the reader lean toward minimalism. Nope, not at all.
The book was broad sweeping generalizations about habits, that rarely mentioned his minimalism at all other than the fact he is one. There is literally a chapter in the book call 50 steps to acquiring new habits. What?! 50 steps?! It was not a sequential list of what to do. More accurately, it was a list of 50 things that have helped someone, somewhere start or stop a habit. 1 or 2 might work for you. Then in the recap, (I listened via audio book) he reread the entire long boring list again.
Additionally, it was a bit repetitive, in other ways too, focusing only on his morning routine, how he started running and how he quit drinking. Imagine, after hearing the author apply those 3 personal examples, to the 1st 30 items on his list, how you’ve heard enough.
It is ironic that after the last book I read, I did not give it an Amazon review because I thought to myself, ‘I always love every book I read and I wonder if maybe I am not a good person to review titles, because I always give 4 or 5 stars.’ This one however, proved me wrong. I gave the performance a higher rating, I had no issue with the guy reading it but I’m giving the book itself a 2. I didn’t laugh, I didn’t cry, I was basically just bored. The end.

Potential is good but book is long
This would have worked better as a long essay instead of an actual book. I liked the general ideas and the science behind willpower; I'll definitely be using that more in my own life. However at a certain point I completely zoned out of the story and when I came back I was shocked to learn I still had two hours of listening left. What more can you say about habits.
Also, this feels very self serving. Maybe it's just me but Sasaki always seems to find a way to pat himself on the back about his life improvements. At times it feels less like a guide and more like a self congratulatory book.

A hard listen
Very repetitive, with little originality. As another reviewer said, this book is more of a collection of personal anecdotes and regurgitations from other writers. Seems like a useful exercise for the author, but overall would not recommend.

The best
My favorite writer about minimalism and changing your lifestyle. Such a shame that his first book « goodbye thing » is not on Audible. It’s a must to read if you are interested about minimalism !
