À propos de cet audio
What should have been a fun-filled, carefree day takes a tragic turn for the worse for one mother when her best friend’s child goes missing in this suspenseful, compulsively listenable, and darkly twisted psychological thriller.
It all started at the school fair....
Charlotte was supposed to be looking after the children, and she swears she was. She only took her eyes off of them for one second. But when her three kids are all safe and sound at the school fair, and Alice, her best friend Harriet’s daughter, is nowhere to be found, Charlotte panics. Frantically searching everywhere, Charlotte knows she must find the courage to tell Harriet that her beloved only child is missing. And admit that she has only herself to blame.
Harriet, devastated by this unthinkable, unbearable loss, can no longer bring herself to speak to Charlotte again, much less trust her. Now more isolated than ever and struggling to keep her marriage afloat, Harriet believes nothing and no one. But as the police bear down on both women trying to piece together the puzzle of what happened to this little girl, dark secrets begin to surface - and Harriet discovers that confiding in Charlotte again may be the only thing that will reunite her with her daughter....
This breathless and fast-paced debut - perfect for fans of Big Little Lies and The Couple Next Door - takes you on a chilling journey that will keep you guessing until the very last page.

In this powerful true crime memoir, an award-winning identity theft expert tells the shocking story of the duplicity and betrayal that inspired her career and nearly destroyed her family. Axton Betz-Hamilton grew up in small-town Indiana in the early '90s. When she was 11 years old, her parents both had their identities stolen. Their credit ratings were ruined, and they were constantly fighting over money. This was before the age of the Internet, when identity theft became more commonplace, so authorities and banks were clueless and reluctant to help Axton's parents.

In the early hours of a summer morning, a young woman steps into the path of an oncoming bus. A tragic accident? Or suicide? At the center of this puzzle is Adrian Wolfe, a successful architect and grief-stricken widower, who, a year after his third wife's death, begins to investigate the cause. As Adrian looks back on their brief but seemingly happy marriage, disturbing secrets begin to surface. The divorces from his two previous wives had been amicable, or so it seemed; his children, all five of them, were resilient as ever, or so he thought.

Couldn’t stop listening
I really did listen to this every chance I could. I enjoyed it immensely just felt the last third of the book…when everything suddenly does a 180.. left me wanting a touch more than I can’t really put my finger on. But overall a really great listen and will definitely check out more by this author (and the narrators!)

Forgot I had this book in my library
I must have purchased this book when I had a few extra credits and forgot it was in my library. Although the premise was good the book seemed to drag on and I found some of the things that were blatantly obvious to the reader slip by people that should have seen it. i.e. The police officer that was staying for extended periods in Harriet & Brian's home. None of the characters were likeable in my opinion. Charlotte, Harriet, Brian or any of the police officers except for Tom, Charlotte's ex-husband.
It is definitely not a dark, twisted psychological thriller. More like a mystery that plodded along. I listened to the whole book over a few days and it did pass the time. The ending was flat.

love love love
I listened to this in just a couple days, it was so good. this is the first mystery novel I've listened to and I loved it! the story keeps building all throughout, I also love that the book focuses on the struggles of being a modern mother. it definitely touches on feminist issues that are ever present today. It shows that we still have things to fight for.
